Board of Directors Update
The StoneBridge School Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Greg Akins as its newest member. A native of Georgia, Akins attended Virginia Tech and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Management Science. Soon after graduation, Akins returned to the Tidewater region, gaining experience in the wholesale fruit ripening business. In 1994, he joined Catalytic Generators and 10 years later, he became President and CEO of the company, where he continues to serve today.

Greg and Cathy, his wife of 32 years, were introduced to StoneBridge School through current StoneBridge teacher, Jeff Carlucci. The couple found StoneBridge to be a great fit for their sons, Ryan (’07) and Kyle (’12), due to its vision for historical and Biblical education.  Akins brings more than three decades of business acumen to his recent Board appointment. He desires to “ help analyze opportunities that present themselves to the school; support the great staff that StoneBridge has; and, most importantly, ensure that in a world of changing values, StoneBridge continues to be and improves as Hampton Roads’ educator of nation changers."

Fingerprinting
In an on-going effort to provide the safest environment for our SBS students, we ask that all volunteers undergo fingerprinting every five years. If you plan to volunteer in the classrooms or attend a class trip (ex: Boston or Washington, D.C.), a background check is required. Many Chesapeake Police Departments offer this service for only $10. Please contact your local station to find out their availability. We truly value your dedication and willingness to help our school and students in the many ways that you do. Contact the front desk if you have questions about your fingerprinting status.
