QUARTET
PG13. 99 Minutes
WINNER -- Best Narrative Feature (Chicago International Film Festival)
GOLDEN GLOBES NOMINEE -- Best Actress
"Quartet asks the musical question, 'Is there such a thing as too much Maggie Smith?' and answers it with a resounding 'No.'" -Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
The directorial debut of Dustin Hoffman, "Quartet" is a high-drama comedy about temperamental divas and old grudges, passion and pride, romance and Rigoletto, starring Maggie Smith, Tom Courtenay, Billy Connolly and Pauline Collins.
Lifelong friends Wilf and Reggie, together with former colleague Cissy, are residents of Beecham House, a home for retired opera singers. Every year on Giuseppe Verdi's birthday, the residents unite to give a concert to raise funds for their home. But when Jean Horton, a former grande dame of the opera fallen on hard times, also Reggie's ex-wife and the fourth and most celebrated member of their former quartet, moves into the home to everyone's surprise, the plans for this year's concert start to unravel.
As old grudges threaten to undermine past glories and theatrical temperaments play havoc with the rehearsal schedule, it becomes apparent that having four of the finest singers in English operatic history under one roof offers no guarantee that the show will go on.
Based on Ronald Harwood's stage play of the same name, QUARTET is a wickedly comic film about redefining old age and growing old with hope; demonstrating how art illuminates life and the human spirit remains undimmed even as the brightest stars start to fade.

SEARCHING FOR SUGAR MAN
Rated PG-13. 86 Minutes
ACADEMY AWARD WINNER - BEST DOCUMENTARY!
"A Sensation! Unravels the extraordinary mystery of an American Folksinger" - Entertainment Weekly
"A Great Triumph! A hugely entertaining, emotionally touching, and musically revelatory experience." -Indie Wire
Searching For Sugar Man tells the incredible true story of Sixto Rodriguez, the greatest '70s rock icon who never was. Discovered in a Detroit bar in the late '60s by two celebrated producers struck by his soulful melodies and prophetic lyrics, Rodgriguez recorded two bombing albums, shooting the band into obscurity. But a bootleg recording found its way into segregated South Africa, turning him into a phenomenon over the next two decades. Long rumored there to be dead by suicide, two South African fans in the 1990s decided to seek out the truth of their hero's fate. What follows is a bizarrely heartening story in which they found far more in their quest than they ever hoped, while a Detroit construction laborer discovered that his lost artistic dreams came true after all.

THE WORLD OF THE WEIRD MONSTER SHOW presents
THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW
Movie With Live Cast!

Come up to the lab and see what's on the slab! It's The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), a screamingly funny, sinfully twisted salute to sci-fi, horror, B-movies and rock music. This weird and wonderful musical film phenomenon will make you shiver with antici...pation!
Adapted by director Jim Sharman and Richard O'Brien from O'Brien's glam and punk rock inspired UK stage musical, The Rocky Horror Show, the madcap, musical mayhem begins when rain-soaked typical square American couple Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Oscar winner Susan Sarandon) take refuge in the castle of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry, in his iconic gender-bending performance), a transvestite mad scientist from outer space who is about to unveil his greatest creation - and have a bit of fun with his reluctant guests! Also present is his strange butler Riff-Raff (Richard O'Brien), weird maid Magenta (Patricia Quinn), rock and roll motorcyclist Eddie (rock star Meat Loaf) and his tap-dancing groupie Columbia ("Little Nell" Campbell). The most popular cult classic of all time!
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an extraordinary phenomenon-- an enduring worldwide cult success, beginning in the USA at late-night screenings, where attendees would dress up, chant lines and comebacks in unison, pull visual gags, dance, sing and more for the audience to enjoy. The ultimate audience-participation film, this campy horror send-up is hosted here at the Wilmette Theatre by Chicago TV's horror/scifi host Undead Johnny and is performed with a live cast The World of the Weird Monster Show in a unique shadowcast performance that both duplicates and parodies the action taking place onscreen for a fabulously entertaining multimedia late-night show. And you can join in the fun as well, with plenty of opportunities for the audience to dig into their participation prop bags (sold at the door, complete with instructions) and enter the wild fun! And there's even a spooktacularly amazing pre-show!
Let's do the "Time Warp" again... and again... and again!

Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
One of Stephen Sondheim's most popular works, Into the Woods is a timeless yet relevant piece and a rare modern classic. What begins a lively irreverent fantasy in the style of The Princess Bride becomes a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.

Kids Concert Series Presents:
SUPER STOLIE!

"An exciting kid-rock collection for kids, glittered with lyrical wit and high praise from children and parents alike!" - Macaroni Kid Chicago Loop
A Super Stolie children's show is high-energy, with interactive music and movement performance that gets kids thinking and singing about everything from spelling to animals, numbers, shapes and sounds while they move and shake to get all their wiggles out. Appropriate lyrically for all ages, but with enough "cool" for even those in the double-digits, a Super Stolie performance shows you that it's impossible to be bored when there's music involved! The show incorporates both traditional songs that you're bound to know plus catchy originals by Stolie that you'll be singing along to instantly. Couple that with a little dancing, instruments to play and bubbles to chase, and you'll be high-fiving all the way home!
Super Stolie debuted on the children's music scene in 2006 by accident at a school fundraiser. By early 2009, Stolie had written enough material for an album and released When I Grow Up, her first collection of original music for children. Recorded in her home studio, Super Stolie performed on guitar, piano, ukulele, bass, harmonica, djembe, all while singing vocals. The result is a full band-sounding kindie album, glittered with Stolie's lyrical wit and has parents laughing, toddlers tongue-twisting, and has also proven to lull the little ones to sleep in the back of the car. Super Stolie's second children's album, Press Play!, was released in November 2012 and is available now from www.superstolie.com
Watch music videos HERE, or listen to select tracks from both CDs HERE.
And read Stolie's interview with Time Out Chicago KIDS HERE.
