This week's highlights include the 56th Annual Grow Show at Berkshire Botanical Garden, the opening of Hamlet at Shakespeare & Company, An American Journey with Yo-Yo Ma and Friends and Hugh Jackman with the Boston Pops at Tanglewood, Opera Night! – American Music from the Operatic Stage at Chesterwood, Free Community Day at The Mount, and the Curator Tour: American Stories – Revolution to Rockwell at the Norman Rockwell Museum. There's something for everyone to enjoy throughout the Berkshires this week!

PERFORMING ARTS

Berkshire Theatre Group presents The Legend of Georgia McBride through August 16 at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield. Starring Broadway performers Kyle Taylor Parker and Michael Wartella, this hilarious, heartwarming comedy follows an Elvis impersonator whose unexpected journey into the world of drag becomes a joyful celebration of friendship, self-discovery, and being true to yourself.

At the Unicorn Theatre in Stockbridge, Lovesong continues through August 29. Written by Abi Morgan, this moving drama weaves together the past and present as younger and older versions of a couple reflect on a lifetime of love, memory, and enduring commitment.

Jacob’s Pillow — Festival Week 7 | August 5 - 9 (Becket)  welcomes the return of the San Francisco Ballet for the first time in 70 years. The acclaimed company performs a diverse repertoire by celebrated choreographers in the Ted Shawn Theatre and presents a second, unique program on the outdoor Henry J. Leir Stage. Select indoor performances feature live accompaniment by the Grammy Award-winning Albany Symphony.

Also appearing is Ephrat Asherie Dance, presenting Shadow Cities in the Doris Duke Theatre, a vibrant work blending street and club dance with live music. Visitors can also attend a free PillowTalk with San Francisco Ballet Artistic Director Tamara Rojo on Saturday, August 8, at 4 p.m. Pre-show talks and post-show discussions with artists are offered throughout the week.e.

• August 7 | 7 p.m. 100 Years of Movies: The American President (1995)
• August 8 |5:30 p.m. & 8:30 p.m. - Lala Tamar & Friends featuring Yacouba Sissoko (Indigo Room) Lala Tamar is what happens when Moroccan soul and Brazilian beats meet on the dancefloor.
• August 9 | 4 p.m. – Wizard Academy! The bumbling Professor Hackensneeze (David Engel) makes a visit from the Realm of Mysteries to teach children 4 to 12 the secrets of their innermost powers.

Shakespeare & Company (Lenox) presents Hamlet, opening August 13. Shakespeare's timeless tragedy follows a young prince haunted by his father's ghost as he confronts betrayal, revenge, and the search for truth in a world of deception.

Also on stage through August 23, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune by Terrence McNally is a heartfelt romantic drama about two lonely people discovering hope, humor, and the possibility of love during one unforgettable night.

Tanglewood Music Festival Summer continues at Tanglewood with another outstanding week of performances.

August 11 | 7 p.m. Hugh Jackman with the Boston Pops The multi-talented, multi-hyphenate Hugh Jackman brings the glamor of Hollywood and the glitz of Broadway to the Shed in a concert spanning the greatest hits of his career, including music from The Boy from Oz, The Music Man, and the feature films The Greatest Showman and Les Misérables.

FAMILY FUN AND COMMUNITY

• 27th Annual Colonial Carriage & Driving Society Events at Orleton Farm

Experience the tradition of carriage driving at the 27th Annual Colonial Carriage & Driving Society and Orleton Farm events, featuring the Pleasure Combined Test and Driving Trial on August 6 & 7, followed by the Pleasure Driving Show on August 8 & 9. Competition begins daily at 8:30 a.m. The weekend also includes Horse Power Meets Horsepower Vintage Car Show on Sunday, August 9, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., bringing together classic automobiles and elegant horse-drawn carriages for a unique celebration of craftsmanship, history, and horsepower.

• Stockbridge Library Museum & Archives offers something for all ages this week. Adults can join the August Book Club on August 13 at 4 p.m. to discuss The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon. Family programs include Playdough Playdate and Slime Squad on August 7, Family Storytime on August 11, and Farm-Themed Storytime, Craft & Sensory Play on August 13. The Stockbridge Library Museum & Archives is more than a library—it's home to the Procter Museum & Archives of Stockbridge History, where visitors can explore the rich history of Stockbridge through artifacts, artwork, photographs, documents, and rotating exhibits. The museum's collections include more than 500 artifacts, nearly 100 works of fine and graphic art, and extensive archival materials that preserve the stories of the town and its people. Admission to the museum is free, making it an ideal stop for history enthusiasts and families alike.

Berkshire Botanical Garden

A celebration of nature and community continues throughout the week.

• August 7 | 11 a.m. Family Fridays — Grumbling Gryphons
• August 8 | 11 a.m. Pollinator Walk
• August 8 and 9: Berkshire Botanical Garden celebrates the 56th Annual The Grow Show, showcasing homegrown flowers, vegetables, and creative floral designs. This judged event features nearly 80 horticulture classes, floral design competitions, and a youth category, with gardeners of all ages and experience levels invited to participate free of charge. Admission to the Grow Show is included with garden admission.

Bidwell House Museum Summer Fundraiser

The Berkshire Hills Are Alive with Music, Celebrate summer at the Bidwell House Museum's annual fundraising party on Saturday, August 8, from 4–7 p.m. at the Richmond home of Paula Bidwell McNay and Joe McNay. This year's theme, The Berkshire Hills Are Alive with Music, features harpist Renee Murphy, a Tanglewood Fellow, hors d'oeuvres by Handcrafted Catering, and an auction with exciting travel experiences and other unique items. The evening will also honor longtime Museum volunteer and board leader Kathryn Roberts for her 25 years of dedicated service. Proceeds support the Museum's historic 1760s homestead, educational programs, and the maintenance of its gardens and 194-acre property, which is open to the public year-round.

Chesterwood Experience the home, studio, and gardens of renowned sculptor Daniel Chester French. Chesterwood's ArtsAlive! series continues with an exciting lineup of programs.

• August 7 |5:30 p.m. Opera Night! - American Music from the Operatic Stage An evening featuring America opera repertory with soprano Emily Misch, baritone Evan Bravos, and pianist Christopher James Ray
• August 12 |5:30 p.m. The Bel Canto Duo in Concert: The Making of a Master The dynamic husband and wife duo of Darci Gamerl and David Downing return to Chesterwood after a one-month music composition residency last season. This summer they will present The Making of a Master inspired by Daniel Chester French
• Visitors can also enjoy children's programs, Berkshire Art Center classes, and the exhibitions The Minute Man: Examining Patriotism, Victory and Loss and In the Open: New England Sculptors Reclaim the Landscape through October 31 and Revolutionary Teapots through September 27, 2026.

Clark Art Institute (Williamstown) offers a mix of exhibitions, nature programming, and live music in its outdoor spaces.

Perfect for our youngest listeners, the instruments will become characters, from a playful seagull to a magnificent whale, bringing this lively and engaging story to life. An interactive program that invites children and adults to sing along at key moments, imagine stories inspired by the music, and join a spirited finale with “Row, Row, Row Your Boat.”

Enjoy a live concert by Latin GRAMMY Award-winning children's musician MISTER G, interactive activities, art, storytelling, animal encounters, drumming, scavenger hunts, and a community resource fair. Free self-guided mansion tours are offered from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with food trucks, ice cream, and fun for all ages throughout the day.

Norman Rockwell Museum offers an inspiring journey into the world of American illustration through the beloved works of Norman Rockwell. 

• August 7 | 9:30 a.m. Curator Tour– American Stories: Revolution to Rockwell with Chief Curator Stephanie Haboush Plunkett. Explore how artists over the past 250 years have reflected and shaped America's evolving identity, while discovering the powerful role illustration has played in telling the nation's story and expressing its shared values
• August 1 | 10 a.m. & 3 p.m. Guided Walking Tour of Historic Stockbridge, exploring the places and people that inspired Norman Rockwell's iconic paintings.

• August 11 | 4 p.m. – Tea & Talk: Evangeline Adams: JP Morgan's Astrologer The talk explores the fascinating life of renowned astrologer Evangeline Adams, who famously advised some of America's wealthiest families, including J.P. Morgan. Local astrologer and former physicist Chelsea Gaia will share Adams' remarkable story and the forecasting techniques that made her one of the most sought-after astrologers of her time. The lecture is followed by Ventfort Hall's traditional Afternoon Tea Service.
