Event Highlights for the Week Ahead in & Around #StockbridgeMA

Summer is in full swing in the Berkshires, bringing a week filled with music, theater, art, history, gardens, and family fun. From Tanglewood concerts and America 250 celebrations to garden tours, exhibitions, and family-friendly events, there are countless ways to experience the very best of the season.


As America commemorates its 250th anniversary, The Red Lion Inn presents two special programs. On June 28 at 2 p.m., historian Richard Skolnik, Ph.D., offers Against All Odds: Victory in the War for Independence, examining how the colonies prevailed against the world's most powerful military force. Then on July 1, Voices of Democracy: 250 Years Creating America brings actors and musicians together for an inspiring evening of storytelling and song. Festive dinner and cocktails begin at 4 p.m., followed by the performance from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.


Music lovers will be drawn to Tanglewood Music Festival, where the summer season continues with the return of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis on June 26 at 7 p,m,. The weekend brings two evenings with legendary singer-songwriter Paul Simon on June 27 and 28 at 7:30 p.m., and Jerry Garcia Celebration with the Boston Pops on June 30 at 7 p.m.


One of the week's signature community events takes place at the Bidwell House Museum in Tyringham, MA on Saturday, June 27. The annual Bidwell Artisan Fair brings together craftspeople demonstrating traditional chair making, lace making, paper making, spinning, and other historic skills. Revolutionary War reenactors, live music by Shinbone Alley, family activities, and local food vendors make this free event a wonderful way to experience Berkshire history and craftsmanship.


Families will find plenty to enjoy at the Stockbridge Library Museum & Archives. Beginning July 1, photographer Rob Bildner's exhibition featuring farmers, food makers, and chefs of the Berkshires will be on display throughout the month. Children's programs include Family Storytime on June 30, and a Butterfly Craft workshop on June 30, while the Read to Brody program takes place July 1. Adults can join the Library's Cookbook Club on July 2 at noon.


In Great Barrington, the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center welcomes the Stéphane Wrembel Quartet to the Indigo Room on June 26 at 5:30p.m. and 8:30p.m. and the acclaimed trio of Béla Fleck, Edmar Castañeda, and Antonio Sánchez on June 27 at 8p.m. in the Art Center. Back in Stockbridge, The Lion's Den offers live music throughout the week with performances Colby Lewis and Steve Ide (June 26, 7pm), Diva & The Dirty Boys (June 27, 7pm), Michael Junkins an Friends (June 21, 6:30pm), July calendar coming soon. 


In Lenox, Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum hosts a Ghost Tour with Robert Oakes on June 27 at 7 p.m., followed by a special Prima Music Foundation Jazz Concert on June 28 at 5:30 p.m. An unforgettable evening of timeless music, featuring the captivating artistry of George W. Michael on saxophone and clarinet, alongside the dynamic Michael Shirtz on piano and vocals. Adding a special highlight to the evening, Prima Music Foundation Young Scholar Artois Sancho will take the stage as a featured guest artist. Nearby, Frelinghuysen Morris House & Studio, offers recurring programs including Director’s Corner, held Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:15am, Artist Demonstrations held Fridays at 11 am (Hoogs & Crawford, Glass Blowing June 26) and Exercise Your Creativity held Sundays 11am-1pm. Thoughtful Thursday Films Part 1 "Young Picasso" What are the reasons behind Picasso's rise to greatness? Malaga, Barcelona, Paris; three cities play a key role. Free with admission. (June 26, 2pm).


At Naumkeag, visitors can explore gilded age style and splendor at this marvelous estate and gardens through a variety of special programs. The new Spill the Tea lecture series continues on June 27 with Ghosts of the Gilded Age, featuring tea service at 4 p.m. followed by the lecture at 4:30 p.m. Garden enthusiasts can enjoy Designing for Delight a guided garden tours on June 26, 27, 28 and July 2 at 10:30p.m., while guided house tours and behind-the-scenes experiences are offered throughout the week.


Gardens are in full bloom. Berkshire Botanical Garden, offers Family Fridays featuring The Rooted Voyageurs on June 26, a Plant Walk with Alex Klein on June 27, and Music Monday with Wanda Houston and The Rejuvenators on June 29. The Garden's Farm-to-Table Lunch Series begins June 28 and continues through September, while an Evening Firefly Watch returns on July 2.


The Mount | Edith Wharton Cultural Center's in Lenox, continues its summer season with outdoor sculpture installations throughout the grounds. On June 28 from 3 to 5 p.m., visitors can meet the artists behind this year's exhibition during a free public reception. The popular Wharton on Wednesday series returns on July 1 at 5:30 p.m., featuring a dramatic reading by Gregory Boover of Edith Wharton's short story The Recovery. Sponsored by a rich benefactress, a locally acclaimed American painter and his wife head to Europe to show off his paintings, only to discover he still has much to learn. Forest Bathing, Qigong with Jamie Greene , Tunes for Tots, Le Cafe Francis continue through the week.


At the Norman Rockwell Museum, the major exhibition American Stories: Revolution to Rockwell continues to draw visitors exploring the American experience through art and illustration. On Saturday, June 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Summer Saturdays offers hands-on art-making activities for all ages. Later that day at 1 p.m., guests can join the popular Stockbridge Walking Tour and discover the village locations that inspired some of Rockwell's most beloved paintings. NEW! Every Wednesday in July Berkshire History Course, American Stories: Rebels and Revolutionaries of the Berkshires (choose from 11a.m. or 5:30p.m. sessions) Examine the history of the American Revolution and its reverberating echoes in the region, nation, and world by highlighting the fascinating but complicated biographies of Berkshire County residents who impacted American history and culture from the late eighteenth century onward. Sign up for the entire series of five classes held at NRM. Each class will begin in the galleries of American Stories: Revolution to Rockwell with a discussion of a work on view that connects to the theme of that day’s class.


The arts continue throughout the Berkshires. At the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, visitors can experience Giorgio Griffa: Paths in the Forest, the artist's first solo museum exhibition in the United States. On June 27, curator Robert Wiesenberger joins exhibition contributors for a special gallery conversation. The Clark's free Summer Concert Series begins July 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with guitarist and vocalist Jackie Venson performing on the Reflecting Pool Lawn.

At Chesterwood The Minute Man: Examining Patriotism, Victory and Loss continues through October 31, 2026. Visitors can now experience In the Open: New England Sculptors Reclaim the Landscape, featuring contemporary works integrated though out the historic grounds and gardens which opened June 15 and on view through October 31, 2026. Meanwhile, in Adams, the Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum opens its new exhibition, Votes for Women: How Suffrage Sparked a Suffrage Revolution.


Dance enthusiasts can head to Jacob's Pillow in Becket, where the season continues with the Paul Taylor Dance Company through June 28. At the newest performance venue at Jacob’s Pillow, the reimagined Doris Duke Theatre, features Shamel Pitts | TRIBE. In their Pillow debut, the company will perform Touch of RED, a work developed in part during the Pillow Lab through June 28. The Henry J. Leir Stage events include the U.S. Debut of Denmark’s Uppercut Dance Theater and the School at Jacob’s Pillow Contemporary Ballet Performance Ensemble.



At Berkshire Theatre Group's Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, Rhapsody: The Music of Queen performs on June 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m., while at the Unicorn Theatre, The American Five continues through July 11, exploring the lives of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Coretta Scott King, Bayard Rustin, Stanley Levison, and Clarence B. Jones in the days leading to the March on Washington. In Lenox, MA, Shakespeare & Company Fireflies continues running through July 19, a touching story of unexpected romance and second chances.


From concerts and theater to gardens, museums, historic sites, and family festivals, there is no shortage of ways to experience the very best of a Berkshire summer this week.
