Join Hungry Mother State Park interpreters for a bike ride down the beautiful and historic Virginia Creeper Trail. This 15-mile ride from Whitetop to Damascus is almost entirely downhill, and perfect for bikers of all ages and skill levels.

Preregistration is required.  Cost: $25/person. Families of four or more $20/person. Contact the Discovery Center for more information and to register.
Auditions for Missoula Children's Theatre's Aladdin
The Lincoln Theatre

Monday, July 17, 2017 10:00 am 

The audition for the Missoula Children's Theatre production of Aladdin will be held on Monday, July 17th at The Lincoln Theatre. There are roles for those students entering 1st grade through 12th grade. Approximately 50-60 local students will be cast to appear in the show with the MCT Tour Actor/Directors. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Students wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the entire two-hour session. The first rehearsal begins approximately 15-minutes after the audition.
 
This is a group audition-no advance preparation is necessary, but a smile J never hurts. Students should just be ready to come and have a good time! Auditions are free. The production will be Saturday, July 22, 2017 at 3:00pm.

There is no comparison to Bolt's highly acclaimed "solo style" that can guide you through your own demons via yodeling just to have you shouting out hip-hop lyrics back to the stage! Bolt describes his music as "Sensationalized, Cynical, and Seasoned Songs in the Key of Country", and his live performance will have you Laughing, Crying, Singing, and Dancing! We're excited to have him performing in downtown Marion this summer!

For Aladdin, it's not easy to find a magic lamp but it's even harder to get a date! It's a swirling sandstorm of famous Arabian Tales from Ali Baba to Scheherazade, and even Sinbad the Sailor, as Aladdin journeys to find a magic lamp in a Cave of (not-so-great) Wonders.  Students actors will present the capstone performance of the week-long Missoula Children's Theatre Residency. Tickets are $5 at the door.

Participate in the Punt, Pass, and Kick Competitions. For grades K-8. Cost is $10 which includes instruction from NHS coaches and players, a Northwood Football t-shirt, and the Punt, Pass, and Kick Competitions. The Saltville-Rich Valley Lions Club annual COLE RIDES CARNIVAL will be in town Tuesday, July 11 through Saturday, July 15  in town at the club's
carnival grounds.  Opening every night at 6 until 10 p.m. there will be fun for all with lots of rides, food and every night bingo (rain or shine).  Nightly unlimited ride special with purchase of an arm band as well as individual tickets will be available.  An arm band purchase provides an entry in the bike give-a-way contest,  drawing to be held  Saturday, July 15, at 9 p.m.  Bingo, come rain or shine, will be held nightly beginning at 7 p.m. with cash prizes.  
The Lion's concession stand will have its famous homemade hotdog chili plus much, much more. The carnival is the Saltville-Rich Valley Lions Club's largest fundraiser for the year with proceeds spent on providing eye glasses, hearing aids, sight and hearing preservation, scholarships, disaster relief, and additional community projects.

Leadership Overview 

Multiple Locations and Dates Available throughout Southwest Virginia (Jun 29 - Jul 28, 2017)

Competition is no longer just between companies, it's between supply chains. Our volatile economy means businesses must be much more agile, flexible and responsive to outside pressures than ever before. This active learning event will be led by GENEDGE Alliance, experts in manufacturing. This event is offered to coal related businesses at no cost through the Heart Project. 
Who should attend: supply chain managers, operations managers, quality control, chief executives. Two participants per business are suggested and are covered by the Heart Grant. Priority given to coal related businesses.
