The new year is here, and we are ready to go! This year is a fantastic time to refocus our goals and refresh our lives in meaningful ways. We hope to give you events in the Southeast region that helps you and your family make 2022 your best year yet! We have a couple of in-person support meetups that are an excellent way to connect with others and enjoy some coffee on us. We also have virtual support groups for both kids and adults designed to create a nurturing environment for our families. As for family events, whether it’s our hockey game, our geocaching day, or our fused glass eventwe hope to see you there!

Adoptive and guardianship familiesJoin us at the Ice Castles in Lake Geneva! Ice Castles is an awe-inspiring, must-see winter phenomenon that brings fairytales to life. This fun, family-friendly experience is built entirely from ice and gives guests a unique way to experience winter at its finest. The experience is built entirely by hand using hundreds of thousands of icicles hand-placed by professional ice artists. The castles include breathtaking LED-lit sculptures, frozen thrones, ice-carved tunnels, slides, and fountains. Please note: one family ticket is good for up to a family of 4. Anything over 4 tickets will have to be purchased separately.

Join other siblings of blended families also part of an adoption or foster placement for a live, video group session to socially connect and discuss topics related to challenges that arise in these family dynamics. This support group will be facilitated by Chelsey Zommers and Christy Timm, Adoption & Permanency Support Specialists from our Wausau and Milwaukee offices. The group size will be limited, so please pre-register via Eventbrite. This group will take place approximately once every six weeks on a Tuesday evening at 7 pm. Join as often as you would like.

Adoptive & Guardianship Parent/Child Fused Glass Workshop: Waterford

This workshop takes a look at the Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plan and how they might apply to your child. It also outlines the steps you should take if you think your child might qualify. Navigating the the special education system can be stressful and intimidating, and it is our goal to provide some tips to help the IEP process feel less overwhelming.
This is an interactive, live educational workshop run by Christy Timm, a Wisconsin Adoption and Permanency Support Specialist, with material from Creating A Family. Discussion and participation encouraged. A certificate of attendance will be given to all participants shortly after the workshop.

Adoptive and guardianship families, come join WISAPSP for a day of fun at the Audubon Nature Center for a geocaching event! Pack up the family and enjoy a day of fun family activities, you’ll hike the trails using a GPS unit to search for coordinate points. Once you find the location, answer questions and learn some fun facts about the property. Upon arrival, we will provide all of the necessary equipment for this self-guided adventure, which includes a GPS unit, a clipboard with a “How To” guide on navigation, a map of the property, and a worksheet with the coordinates, questions, and facts. Can your family find all of the coordinates in time?”
