December Highlights

We hope you all have been enjoying the holidays. We're very happy to be part of an amazing and much larger organization that visit the Farm every year for a holiday lunch. It is a great time to catch up with all of Interfaith Neighbors' support staff and to learn what is going on in the other departments.

THANK YOU ST. ROSE HIGH SCHOOL!

Pictured above: students tidy up the Farm Without Borders on a windy day in December.

Pictured below: students process pumpkins in part two of our annual Pumpkin Smash. The public continues to drop pumpkins at our community compost.

Thank you for composting!

Pictured above: The Blue Dot crew poses in front of a new batch of Kula Farm Tea, ready for delivery to Pulp Juice Bar. Word is we are almost sold out and need to make more for 2024! Thank you!!!

Pictured below: the crew poses following a holiday gift making class hosted by our good friend Teresa Maltz. We are so happy to host Blue Dot every week and look forward to their return next year!!!

Pictured above: our friend and burlap coffee sack supplier Mark Davis leads us in a recycled card making class. We all had a great time looking through the wide array of vintage images and creating one-of-a-kind cards for our friends and loved ones.

Thank you Mark for keeping alive the tradition of handmade cards!

RECYCLED ART in the Homeschool Class!

In what was our final homeschool for the season, the class made ornaments celebrating the Winter Solstice. We look forward to having the students return in March!

Nineth grade College Achieve Charter School students still visit the Kula Classroom every week, they're great scholars. Local newspaper The Coaster came by to document their visit. The students are doing a science experiment (see below). They are testing the influence of different colors of light on plant growth.

The perks of working at Kula; the tastiest most nutritional fresh salad for lunch.
