February marks Black History Month - an opportunity to celebrate the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians who have helped shape Canada into the culturally diverse and thriving country it is today.
To kick off Black History Month, the Hamilton Black History Council, in partnership with Black-led organizations, the City of Hamilton, and the Hamilton Public Library, will host The Art of Community, an event showcasing the works of artists Roger and Kareem Ferreira and Dawn Grant Artistry. The event will take place on Friday, January 31, from 12 to 2:30 p.m., at the Hamilton Public Library – Central Branch, 4th floor. This free event is open to the public.
As part of this year’s “We Are Hamilton – Black History Remembered” initiative, two new individuals will be honoured for their remarkable contributions at the up-coming event on January 31st. Since the launch of this initiative in 2023, 19 Black Hamiltonians have been recognized for their contributions to our city’s history and cultural diversity. Register today to attend the launch event!
