Note from the manager

What a great season it has been! We are looking forward to hosting a number of summer camps, programs and student internships in the upcoming months, so we will be taking a brief hiatus on events. Engaging with youth during high summer means we get to fully immerse ourselves in the gardens and in what is the most inspiring, extraordinary and exhausting time of year. We are grateful to all of the people that support our farm by buying our produce, dropping their compost, volunteering and/or coming to our classes, events and parties. We honestly do our best to create a farm that is open to all people (and wildlife) and acts as a resource to the local community and we are humbled by that work. In the meantime please keep your eye on our Instagram account for any pop-up classes or events while we have our heads in the dirt, or are checking drippers in the greenhouse or dropping greens off on your front porch or in the walk-in cooler. We consider it a privilege to care for the patches of land we have and hope to make the most of the potential that the earths resources provide.

June Highlights

We had a wonderful Kula Cocktail Party!

We love hosting the cocktail parties, it was a beautiful evening, we got spoiled by some great performances and tasty bites and plenty drinks. A special thanks to Mark Van Sant, Hannah Boyce, John Grub, Nora Campbell and Sharon Lasher for their dedication to our cause. And have you heard of Tanner Grigoli yet, we feel like we saw a star in the making at Kula. Delicious bites were catered by Mark Felz from Trixie's Supper Club throughout the night.

We also had a great time hosting the Unitarian Universalist Congregation from Lincroft at the farm for their Just Folks celebration. If you are interested in renting our space for the night contact us!

Siarra Morris put together another wonderful Mother's Day event at Kula. People visited from all over the state to talk about the special bond between a mother and child.

Lori Garton and baby aced the last Kula Homeschool classes of the year. They celebrated the summer solstice by making flower crowns and explored the garden looking for bugs.

The Kula Kids and adults alike learned what kind of insects and spiders live at the farm. Mr. Eugene M. Fuzy had so much interesting knowledge. We love this time of year when the whole garden is buzzing with life.

Thank you to Kim Bradle for hosting our first evening herb walk of the summer. Kim's holistic approach wove mindfulness into the overall learning experience creating a unique and peaceful evening. The next class TBA!

The College Achieve students ended the school year with some garden work. They all got to take home some plants for their gardens at home.

We were so happy to host volunteers from Deloitte and Touche for the companies annual Day of Service. The team did a great job weeding and mulching our gardens before sharing a lunch from Jersey Mikes!

AP Sober Socials hosted a beautiful evening of guided Yoga flow by Tiffany Wallace followed by a mocktail mixer by Off the Rocks last Saturday. We love to provide a space for events like this at the farm.

Once again Vivian, Roseanne and Rocco performed Kirtan, a form of singing meditation, in the greenhouse. Kirtan occurs across many cultures and spiritual lineages and I do believe, was helpful to the plants in the greenhouse as well.
