Nature Printmaking

Saturday November 4, 1:30 - 3:00pm

Learn the techniques for relief printing on fabric or paper! Explore design and printing techniques aimed at repeating patterns and nature-inspired compositions. Great for cards and fabric projects! This workshop will introduce beginner techniques to relief printing, exploring papers, inks, textures, and recycled materials. 

All materials are provided but participants are welcomed to bring reliefs to be printed.

Join us for an afternoon of celebrating poetry and plants alike. This free community event kicks off with a writing workshop. Attendees are encouraged to experience the Farm, an herbal tea offering from MotMot Collective, and the plants surrounding them in the greenhouse and spend some time writing based on this inspiration. Immediately following is an open mic, during which everyone has an opportunity to share what they wrote and/or a previously written piece. Any sort of ode to plants is a bonus!

In each class we’ll explore different aspects of farming, gardening, food and nutrition or nature. 

The classes are generally geared toward ages 4-8, but all are welcome as we discuss topics that some explore into high school.

Fire Cider Workshop

Saturday November 11, 11:00 - 12:30pm

Firecider is a simple preparation of common ingredients that makes a powerful tonic that can be taken daily for its health benefits. Never heard of it? Come out and make some! This workshop will be hosted by herbalist Leslie Feingold and will take place in our Greenhouse. Please bring your own 12oz jar and favorite knife. This workshop is free but we appreciate donations to cover the cost of ingredients. Hope to see you there!

Kula For Kids

Science Experiments

Sunday November 19, 1.30 - 3:00pm

Ages 4 - 8, $7.50

Kula for Kids is a great way for your little ones to explore a garden or greenhouse and learn about food, nature and much more.

Come join Kula's own Mr. Matt to do some fun science experiments. We'll do our best to boggle their with some safe but engaging projects.

Join us as we process collected pumpkins and holiday displays for composting at the annual Pumpkin Smash. Children and adults are all welcome to participate and provided age appropriate tools for smashing. Please bring protective eyewear if you have it, some will be provided as well. No need to register.

PLEASE drop off your pumpkins, mums, straw, cornstalks at the site prior to the event at the Farm without Borders 1200 Springwood Ave next to the Turf Club. 

We will also have 3 very special guest chefs offering free pumpkin inspired bites to the community at large from 12-2. Thank you Matt Collins from Chef Collins Events, Sergio Campos from S.C. Specialties and Mark Felz from Trixies Chicken! Free and donations welcomed.

Recycled Card Making

Saturday December 2

11am - 12:30pm, all ages

Handmade cards of any kind are a thoughtful and simple way to communicate with people and are a joy to make.

BRING YOUR ADDRESS BOOK and join us in making and writing out cards using recycled paper with our own Lisa B. and friend and artist Mark Davis. Once you have finished we will take the card to the post office for you!

We will provide STAMPS!

October Highlights

We are very happy to be hosting students from St. Rose H.S. in Belmar every month and engage them in activities at the Farm. Here students plant up one of our hydroponic grow towers.

High school students joined Ms. Natalie Hayes-Scott and other mentors of the B-Swell program for an evening scavenger hunt and craft project at the Farm.

Fall Homeschool class learned about seeds then collected them from a wide variety of plants that were producing them in the gardens. We will store these seeds for our seed swap in March!

Homeschool class also had the very important task of planting garlic for harvest next year! Thank you class for planting the first seeds of 2024!

We expected to be in the greenhouse for the yoga class since it was late October but it turned out to be a great day for Sun Salutations.

What a way to start the day.

Cherilyn Larsen from Academy Charter High School in Belmar came by with her students to learn about hydroponics since they just got they own hydroponics system for their class room, how nice!

Local resident Charles recently started as a trainee in our Kula Farm Experience job training program. We also started accepting participants from Monmouth County's Community Work Experience Program to further serve the area's workforce development.

Fall produce for donation to the food pantry and our Friday Plant Sale in full effect! Stop by Fridays from 11-4 and start bringing the outdoors indoors for the winter.
