We welcome back the kids at Kula!

We’ll start the morning with a mindful practice to have the Kula kids get calm and focused.

Next, we’ll read a book in regard to Black History Month and reflect on the story with some questions.

We’ll then do some crafts, and finish the morning with a dance party!

Class taught by Ericka Uter; a Montessori Guide at Lily Montessori Parent Child Center in Belmar, and a Lead Konscious Worker at KYDS, Asbury Park.

Cannabis Industry Workshop

Thursday Feb.16, 7:00 - 8:00pm

The photo above shows last months class where our host Christopher Chiappetta presented his new visual aids explaining his vision for a network of cooperating businesses in Asbury Park, and where Sean Banks taught us how to make Infused Rice Krispy Treats.

This workshop series is to learn about the upcoming cannabis industry in New Jersey. Participants will be offered help on how to start their own business and offered an opportunity to tie it into a larger network of local businesses.

We usually will also go over ways to process cannabis into different products, however, this time we’ll have gest speaker:

Douglas Glander

from Shore Grow hydro

presenting an

Materials for the making of the drum will be provided and you may bring your drum if you’d like for a mini drum circle towards the end of the workshop!

Spring Planting and Planning Workshop

March 11, 11:30am - 12:30 pm

Join Lori and Lisa in discussing the spring garden, soil needs, the where and when of seeding and (if the weather permits) active demonstrations. If you are new to gardening or have questions about your own garden this is a great opportunity to join with fellow gardeners to discuss and share knowledge. The annual Seed Swap directly follows this event so stay late to look through the seeds we have to offer and those of our friends. We will have tea, coffee and refreshments for our guests.

Seed Swap and Garden Supply Drive

March 11, 1:00 - 3:00 pm

The Annual Seed swap gives people a chance to SHARE SEEDS they may have saved or have left over from last season. You do not need to have seeds to participate, Kula and our friends have many that we have saved that will be available to share. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow gardeners of all experience levels and talk about gardening. We will also be collecting any old or unused garden supplies from your garage or shed to share with the local community.

January Highlights

Above you can see Ray working on a prototype bat house. Ray is a veteran who lives next door to the Farm. He has been in our job training program "The Kula Farm Experience" for quite a while now. We'll probably host a build your own bat house workshop as soon as we have perfectioned our design.

The Nature Printmaking Workshop by Ashley McFarland! This was the 3rd year we did it. So nice! Check out her work on ashleymcfarlandart.com

Many thanks to Chef Nora Boyce Watson for leading two back-to-back Kimchi making workshops. The communal making of Kimchi is known as Gimjang and we look forward to hosting this popular workshop annually.

Last summer we received a visit from the Grown in Monmouth Camp.

The video above is a throwback to last summer when we received a visit from the Grown in Monmouth Camp.

We would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all of the folks who take the time to deposit their compost in our community compost pile. We are so pleased that people want to take part in active recycling and reduce the waste that goes into landfills. If you are interested in contributing to our pile please Click here to find out more.
