Vegan Farm to Table Dinner by Chef Darren Monroe
-Friday April 8-
Darren is the former chef/owner of Cafe Diem and is now creating creative vegan dishes at White Chapel Projects. He is a plant based diet educator focused on community building events that connect people with their food, the natural world, and each other.
After taking a short break during the Omicron surge we are -as you can see- back with a full program. With most of the snow gone and a small hint of spring we are getting excited about starting our gardens. We hope you do too, and that you will join us for one of our classes or workshops.
We have been working the compost, amending the beds, pruning fruit trees, and are starting lots of seeds. We will also be growing lots of vegetable, herb and native perennials starter plants this spring for you to add to your garden.
It’s still a bit slow now, however soon you will see many more varieties of fresh greens and root vegetables available to buy through our farm stand.

The new Kula Homeschool program is a success!
We have had many homeschool kids come to our classes in the past few weeks and it's been great showing them the farm, greenhouse, how to plant, and much more...

It’s so nice to see local kids outside, learning about our ecosystem and how food is grown.

We look forward to continuing the classes through the spring and are grateful for all of the participation.

Meditation Class
Saturday, March 5
12.30 - 1.30pm
We will engage in a short yoga practice before we lead into deep meditation, journaling and a chance to connect with beautiful spirited people, who are also on their journey to self healing. Siarra Morris will share tips you can use in your daily practice of self care and kick start your journey to self healing.
Siarra has always been on the personal journey to healing and has always been into helping and healing others as well.
Her passion for helping others and healing herself birthed Yogi Vibezz. She realized that through connecting mind, body and spirit through meditation and flow of movement, you can enhance your overall daily life with simple routines.
This workshop will demonstrate the what, where and when of your organic vegetable spring garden planting.

You will learn which plants to get growing, how to start them, when to plant, different techniques of planting and how to make sure plants flourish throughout the growing season, all without the use of synthetic chemicals.

If you are new to growing, this workshop will be a helpful kickstart to your new garden. If you have been gardening forever, this workshop just may give you those helpful hints you crave each year!

You will go home with a six pack of your choice of seeded plants, additional seed varieties are available in our online store.
Spring Planning and Planting Workshop
Saturday, March 12
11am - 12.30pm
(This class was postponed from Feb. 19)
Kula's Annual Seed Swap
and Garden Supply Drive.
Saturday, March 12
1:00 - 3:00pm
We'll be outside (in tents if necessary).
All are welcome this year to join us in exchanging seed and any gardening supplies in your shed or garage. Many experienced gardeners will be at the event to talk shop with and share ideas about what they are planning for the coming season.

You do not have to have seeds to participate. If you do have seeds, please bring them, if not, come anyway! The Kula Farm has many seeds to offer from its own library and we will provide small envelopes for people to portion out their seeds to take home.

In addition, this year we are asking people to bring old tools and garden related materials that they no longer use for us to distribute to the local community. It is a great opportunity to do a little spring cleaning and thin out some old and unused supplies to share and give away to those that can use them.

We look forward to another lively event where we come together to talk gardening and share in all the potential energy that the seed holds.
Kula For Kids
Ages 4 - 8
Saturday, March 19
10:30am - 12pm

(This class was postponed from Jan. 22nd)
Come join us as we learn a bit more about the harmful effects of plastic and why we should “skip the straw” and go plastic free!

We will make a take home craft!

A class taught by Miss Michelle Morey:

Skip the straw and save a turtle! Keeping one single straw from making it to the ocean won’t fix the problem, but imagine if everyone said “No straw, please!" Beginning on November 4, 2021, food service businesses shall only provide a single-use plastic straw to a customer upon request.

Composting Workshop
Saturday, March 19

This workshop will explain how you can use free or low cost resources to supply your garden’s soil with more nutrition, beneficial microbiology, and improve its water holding capacity. You’ll learn how to build and maintain a compost pile the right way to reap the many benefits of composting!

A class by Miss Kelly Stone:
We will dive into different types of energy and decide which types are less harmful to the environment. We will learn about an island that harnessed the wind to change their world through Allan Drummonds book Energy Island. The Kula Kids will then use what they learned to create their own wind powered vehicle from a variety of recycled materials.
