June 24, 2020 - 2 Tamuz 5780
As the tumultuous month of June draws to a close, we are entering into a new phase of COVID-19 response at the JCA. Not a return to business as usual, but an entirely new way of making our spaces and programs accessible.
We are continuing to curate and offer new online content. We have an Avodat Lev (Service of the Heart) contemplative practice series with the J’s Yoga instructor Ashley Flowers, as well as new webinars and classes, including Rabbi David Sandmel on “ Old, New Hate ,” and an incredible opportunity to engage deeply with the most exciting Jewish thinkers in the world through the Shalom Hartman Institute's All Together Now: Jewish Ideas For This Moment .

We are also offering a fun “ Boogie for Bottoms ” interactive fundraiser through PJ Library to support the crucial work of our Diaper Bank , which has distributed an incredible 200,000 diapers since the COVID-19 crisis began.
And for the first time in over 100 days, we also have several safe and fun in-person activities to share!
  • As we head into the heat of the summer, we are excited to welcome you and your family to enjoy a day on the shores of Sebago Lake at Center Day Camp’s 'Family Camp’! if you are thinking of signing up, please get in touch with Chris anytime with questions; we’re exploring adding weekend dates, and now you can bring the entire family – even the dog!
  • Join Karli Efron for a high-energy, emotionally fulfilling Outdoor Oula dance class Wednesday evenings in our parking lot.
  • And we are thrilled to reopen our Goldman Family Preschool next week for our first of two summer sessions!
Starting Monday, the school will be open, and while the JCA building will remain closed to the public, Sara Hallie Richardson will return to the front desk, where she will be answering your calls and expanding her work to include many kinds of outreach and engagement (keep an eye out for some great video content!)
J staff have worked tirelessly to make sure our programs continue and grow, and we hope you can find something that fits for you - whether you are looking for continued virtual engagement, or interested in exploring safe in-person activities. We are proud to continue to serve you. As always, please don’t hesitate to let us know how we can meet your needs through this evolving and dynamic time.
