Our Executive Director, Maureen, was on ABC7 Chicago this past weekend to talk about all things Wrigleyville Wonderland and the 15 holiday pop-ups down Clark Street! Watch the segment here.

Join us at the Annual Community Menorah Lighting on the second night of Chanukah, Monday, December 23 at 5:00pm .
Following the Menorah lighting will be a fire show and the Gelt Drop from a fire truck (this year it will rain down from 100 parachutes!). Plus, live music, latkes and donuts, hot soup, prizes, balloon artist and more!

This event is free and open to the entire community!  Free parking on site!

The City of Chicago is committed to helping every Chicagoan participate in the 2020 Census, it is important that everyone is represented and has the chance at being so. See below for some opportunities regarding the 2020 Census and how you can be involved.
  • In advance of the 2020 Census, the U.S. Census Bureau is recruiting thousands of people for temporary jobs across the country.
  • The temporary positions include: Census Takers, Census Field Supervisors, Recruiting Assistants, Office Operations Supervisor.
  • Candidates must complete an online job application; The application includes assessment questions about education, work, and other experience.
  • Positions for the 2020 Census are located throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
  • Pay rates can vary by position and location; Find the pay rates in your area using the interactive map.

The 2020 Shared Cost Sidewalk Program will open to new applicants starting at 6 a.m. on January 7, 2020 and conclude at 5:59 a.m. on January 8, 2020.

The Shared Cost Sidewalk Program is an extremely popular voluntary program in which property owners share the cost of sidewalk repair with the City. Thousands of Chicagoans have been a part of this popular program, taking advantage of the low cost, exceptional value, and ease of participation. The Shared Cost Sidewalk Program cost per square foot charged to property owners is well below what a private contractor would charge. Senior citizens and persons with disabilities may qualify for a further discounted rate.

Applications will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. The number of participants is based on availability of funds. The program typically reaches capacity quickly, so you are encouraged to apply early. 

Please note that if you applied for the program in previous years, you must apply again in 2020 if you wish to be considered for the 2020 program. Applications will only be accepted through the City's 311 system by calling 311 or through the City's service request website The property owner's contact information and the property address are required at the time of request.

19th District Community Alternative Policing Strategies (CAPS)

The 44th Ward is served by the 19th District (bounded by Lawrence, Lake Shore Drive, Fullerton, and the Chicago River). Each police district is divided in beats, and each beat has a team of beat officers assigned to it. Police representatives from these teams and local community leaders conduct the CAPS meetings.
