Kevin Mooney from Saskatchewan WCB will present “Working Together to Prevent Fatalities and Serious Injuries.” Despite Saskatchewan’s lowest injury rates, fatalities and serious injuries remain steady. The presentation will cover the WorkSafe Strategy, leading indicators, and WCB’s support for improving contractor management.

Preliminary Rate Code Setting

The Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board is hosting its preliminary rate information meeting to seek public consultation on the following year’s rates. This year, the meeting for the 2026 preliminary rates is being held virtually on Tuesday, Oct. 28 at 9 a.m.


The preliminary rate information meeting includes:

 

  • an overview of the rate setting process
  • key factors that influence premium rates
  • preliminary premium rates for 2026

OHS Regulations Review

The Government of Saskatchewan is reviewing The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020 and is seeking feedback from stakeholders and the public. The first phase covers Parts 1–5, with feedback accepted until November 30.

Congratulations to Ross Machine Shop & Armour Steel Fabricators on the recognition of two outstanding safety professionals, Mike Haid and Scott Viczko, with MSA Leadership Awards.

Mike Haid brings 23 years of experience and a strong commitment to safety. As a long-time member of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee, Mike ensures all employees feel comfortable raising safety concerns. He communicates effectively, addresses issues promptly with management, and leads by example in promoting a safe workplace.

Scott Viczko brings 23 years of experience and leads by example as the supervisor for the welding bay. He conducts thorough toolbox talks, ensures safe work practices, and communicates opportunities for improvement to management. Under Scott’s leadership and commitment to safety, Armour has gone over three years without a medical aid incident.
