2022 Speed Hump Program opened Oct. 6
Now you and your neighbors can apply to have speed humps installed on your block! Register your block for speed humps starting October 6 at 9AM.
Get Ready to Vote LA County
November 8th is Election Day. Here are some things you need to know in order to vote:
First, make sure you are registered to vote. You can click here to register online. If you moved recently, you should check your registration status to make sure the Registrar-Recorder has your current address on file. 
September 28th: Sample Ballots mailed out.
October 6th - 10th: Vote-by-Mail ballots mailed out. In LA County, every voter will automatically be sent a mail-in ballot, but you can opt to vote in-person instead or use a ballot drop box. 
  • October 29th: First set of Vote Centers open their doors. You can vote in-person at any Vote Center that is convenient to you. 
  • November 5th: All Vote Centers open.
  • November 8th: Election Day! Vote Centers and drop boxes close at 8pm. 
The locations of Vote Centers and Ballot Drop Boxes are expected to be released in the coming week or two.

Dodger Games aboard the USS Iowa
The LA Dodgers are in the playoffs and the Battleship Iowa is turning its fantail into a giant tailgate party!

Come aboard Battleship IOWA to watch the National League Division Series on the Community Big Screen. The ship will be showing all of the Dodgers games during the NLDS and continuing throughout their playoff run. 
Games are currently scheduled for Oct. 11, 12, 14, 15 (if necessary), and 16 (if necessary) with game times to be determined. See Calendar. These events are FREE to attend. 

Vicky's Doghouse will have adjusted hours for food and beverages, including a special game day menu. They'll have folding chairs available, but welcome you to bring your own portable chair for a real sideline experience.

Angels Gate Family Workshops

Angels Gate offers monthly free Family Art Workshops in-person! Art activities for kids and adults, ages 1 to 101! All are welcome.

Join us for October's spooky storytelling workshop with Artist-Teacher Iliana Cuellar. We will be learning about how to build a story and tell it in a creative way. Supplies will be provided. Registration is required.  
We will be meeting in the gallery/office Building A at 1pm and walking over to the classroom together. If the event is sold out, we encourage you to join us at Building A in case there are no-shows.

Scary Stories is Back!
The 20th annual SCARY STORIES is back with two unique programs; one live on October 29 and the other online for the month of October. Spellbinding storytelling with fabulous sound effects suitable for the young, old, living and...shhhhhh!
 
Online, October 1st through November 6th, folks will gather around the virtual fire at home for unique free SCARY STORIES. Visit Melanie Jones Storyteller website, starting October 1st to discover what eery stories she has in store for you. Donations are encouraged!
 
Saturday, October 29th at 6:30pm, a live performance will take place in the amphitheater around a bonfire. It is recommended to bring your own chairs with distanced seating and masks required. There are a limited number of folding chairs on site available for free. Picnics are welcome and warm attire is suggested. Tickets are $5 for general admission, cash only and children 6 and under are free!

People nationwide who are experiencing a mental health crisis and in need of immediate help will be able to dial or text 988 and receive assistance through the new Suicide and Crisis Lifeline number. As the lead agency in developing a seamless roll out of 988, Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) has been preparing for this launch for more than a year to ensure operational logistics and response teams are in place to enable Los Angeles County community members to call 988 and receive immediate help during a mental health crisis.
