Both Amanda and Cole McGlynn will be ordained on Sunday, November 21 at 4:00 p.m. at Ascension Lutheran Church in Thousand Oaks. Ascension is located at 1600 E. Hillcrest Drive. Those attending in-person are asked to wear a mask. A light reception will follow the service. For those who wish to join virtually, the service will be live-streamed on Ascension's Facebook page.
Cole McGlynn grew up in Thousand Oaks, California, as an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church. He initially was perusing a degree in Physics at USF, and a career in Mechanical Engineering, but transferred to California Lutheran University to study Theology as he discerned a call to ministry. Amanda McGlynn was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, as an active member of Calvary by the Sea Lutheran Church. She has been discerning a call to ministry since she was 14. Amanda went to California Lutheran University, double majoring in Theology and Global Studies.
Cole and Amanda both went on to attend Luther Seminary, and in that time, worked in various congregations in Minnesota, North Carolina, and Texas. In their free time, they enjoy exploring the outdoors, cooking, playing music, gardening, and raising their two dogs and six chickens.
Cole has recently been called to be the pastor of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in San Clemente, and his wife Amanda has been serving as pastor of King of Kings Lutheran Church in Oceanside since August.
