Code writing can be challenging. What are the basic elements of a well crafted code? How do you ensure you've covered the bases? How do you craft code that is flexible and able to adapt to new circumstances or situations you didn't see coming? How can you write code that's legally defensible? This seminar will explore these topics and teach you the key things you need to know to write elegant, defensible code that guides development in the direction you're comprehensive plan intends. We'll talk about land use codes and the aesthetic codes (historic districts, design review districts, architectural committee decisions) and help you integrate those codes into your process codes. We'll also learn about the resources you can use to see best examples and craft codes that are unique to your jurisdiction while meeting state and federal guidelines.
