The MERITO Foundation

The MERITO Foundation is a local non-profit organization committed to protecting our oceans through education, conservation, and scientific research opportunities for multicultural youth and their communities.

This year, the MERITO Foundation is hosting its 8th Annual EECCOA Challenge! The acronym stands for "Energy Efficiency to Mitigate Climate Change and Ocean Acidification," and the challenge is project-based for students to propose methods for reducing the carbon footprint of their school's campus or their homes. Student projects will be submitted by May 1st, 2023 and the first judging process will begin.

Participants may choose their school or their home. Everything you need to know is listed HERE to get started.

Are you interested in volunteering to be a judge? First-phase judges will be virtually given a rubric, detailed instructions, and a select number of projects and the goal is to select the best proposals. The result of the first phase will be 16 projects, which will then continue to the second-judging phase held in person on May 22nd, 2023 at the Awards Event. First-phase judges may volunteer to be second-phase judges as well. If you are interested, please contact info@meritofoundation.org.
