ISSUE #1:

Africa's Wild World

Welcome to the first edition of "HEADED TO AFRICA"; Safari Conservation Adventures. I'm the founder, Lisa Goldsmith.

It's true: Africa is the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth, home to stunning landscapes and the wonderful people you'll meet along the way during your safari.

Throughout my years of traveling Africa on safari, the most rewarding moments I can remember come from wildlife conservation activities, during which I experienced complete immersion in a new ecological world and gained valuable insights into the various challenges affecting Africa's wildlife and local communities today. Meaningful and impactful travel that goes beyond the traditional game drive soon became the norm for me.

My goal with HEADED TO AFRICA is to continue this tradition by bringing together small groups of like-minded, passionate travelers for an unforgettable experience that combines tailor-made safari adventures with powerful conservation efforts.

I collaborate with trusted safari conservation experts and renowned tour operators. Together, we craft exciting adventures that immerse you in Africa's breathtaking landscapes while actively contributing to unique wildlife conservation opportunities on your safari.

Daily safari drives include: a private guide, me, your small group, and plenty of room in the vehicle. Also included are ample time to photograph/film wildlife and other exciting safari activities, such as walking safaris and more.

Wildlife conservation experiences can consist of: participating with wildlife veterinarians on the ground as they do the necessary medical procedures on some of Africa's most endangered-iconic species, meeting with Anti Poaching Rangers and K9 dog units, and even taking a ride in a Zap Wing plane or helicopter. You’ll also have the opportunity for a cultural and community visit or to visit a rhino or elephant orphanage.

We have access to all of these incredible educational conservation experiences, and we want to share with you the beauty of Africa while contributing to its preservation and protection.

Please visit the HEADED TO AFRICA website to see the trips happening in Africa 2024, and let's see what we can create together. I'd be delighted for you to join me!

Tips & Facts About the Bush:

  • Off-season is also a great time to travel and avoid crowds.
  • The deeper in the bush the better, so when you're needing to be escorted to and from your tent, you know you're surrounded by wildlife!
  • Skip camp breakfasts, but grab a coffee/tea, and get in the vehicle at the crack of dawn.
  • Don't overplan the day, expect the unexpected.
  • The Pangolin is the most trafficked animal in the world.

Stay adventurous!
