STEM University Is Your Lab For Fun And Science
A full day of STEM fun and advancement is planned during STEM University at  Southeast Missouri State University Jan. 7 and Southern Illinois  University Carbondale Feb. 25. Cub Scouts will earn Out of This World! NOVA at SEMO and Science Everywhere NOVA at Carbondale. A variety of merit badge classes and NOVA classes are available for Boy Scouts at both location s.  Register now .
New STEM Workshops with TechShop
TechShop, located in the Cortex Innovation Community, is hosting two hands-on advancement workshops in their makers' space and creativity studio. Webelos Build It Workshop is Jan. 21 and Boy Scouts Leatherwork Merit Badge Workshop is Jan. 22. Sign up now.
New Climbing Tower at
Camp Lewallen

Earlier this month the Greater St. Louis Area Council installed a new 40-foot climbing tower at Camp Lewallen that includes a traverse wall and cargo climb. The area is named the Kyle Keith Davidson Climbing Tower Complex.
New Year, New Name!
On January 1, the Lewis & Clark and Greater St. Louis Area Councils will officially merge to form the new Greater St. Louis Area Council. Since both councils already had a Kaskaskia District, GSLAC volunteers made the decision to change their district name. Beginning in 2017, Kaskaskia will become the Big Muddy District! A new district logo will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
Camp Registration Opens January 3
In just one week, registration opens for Cub Scout Summer Camps as well as National Youth Leadership Training. Sign up early to get your preferred week!

Reduce Camp Costs With Camp Cards
Camp Cards allow Scouts to attend camp for free or reduce out-of-pocket expenses!  The sale runs February 1-April 7 and Scouts keep 50% of the profit for each $5 camp card sold. Deadline to sign up for the sale is January 15.

Double Your Year-End Contribution With Forever Funds
To encourage donations to the Greater St. Louis Area Council's Endowment and Capital Funds, the Forever Funds Matching Gift Program provides a dollar-for-dollar match of all individual and corporate gifts of $500 to $25,000 made either to the Endowment or approved Capital Projects. Nominate Deserving Volunteer For Silver Beaver Award
Each year, the council recognizes a class of volunteers with the Silver Beaver Award. This award is the highest recognition a Boy Scout council can bestow on an adult volunteer. If you know a volunteer who has provided noteworthy service to the Scouting program and has had a tremendous impact on our youth, complete a nomination form and return it to your district executive.

Seabadge Training This Spring
The Central Region Seabadge course will be held in Springfield, IL on March 31 through April 2. Seabadge is an advanced training course for Sea Scout adult leaders.  The sessions taught during the course focus on meeting the needs of our youth and locating and providing the resources necessary to successfully run a Ship.
