WHAT CAN I EXPECT AT LSG RETREATS?
A lot of fun. You may get 100 pages done and you may get 1 page done, but we promise a good time.
This is a Christian Conference Center, so please be respectful and know that there is no alcohol permitted on site. Also, smoking is not permitted inside the building.
Meals are included in your retreat fees. We serve a continental breakfast downstairs that is there for you whenever you want it. Dinner is served upstairs in the cafeteria around 5:30 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. We have brunch on Sunday to give you a good meal before you have to hit the road.
We have tables in the break area for shared food and drinks. We provide bottled water, ice, and Keurig style coffee pods. There are a couple of coolers, but please remember that everyone may have stuff to refrigerate, plus the breakfast food must be refrigerated. Lunch is not provided.
You will have a 6-foot table with electricity. You need to bring a power strip if you have multiple items that need electricity. There are a few extension cords for the tables in the center of the room.
The chairs sit a little low, so if you have a chair cushion, I recommend you bring it. There is space to bring a small folding table (like TV table) to place beside your table but be mindful of walkways.
Restrooms are just a few steps outside of the crop room.
Headphones are required in the crop room if you want to listen to music, ballgames, Netflix, etc. (there is Wi-Fi, but it is spotty at times.)
Keep your phone calls outside of the crop room! Please be respectful of your fellow retreaters. No one needs to hear your conversations.
Please feel free to get comfy. We’re all running around in sweats and t-shirts and even some jammies but be aware that we do have men in the crop room and in the building. And true to East Tennessee weather, be prepared for all temps. We never know if it’s going to be cold or hot in the crop room.
There is a free table! Bring your items you can’t use or have multiples of for the free table.
We do group pictures. These are a lot of fun. We do try to get one large group picture of the entire group and then we do small group pictures and individual shots if that’s what you want. They are all posted in the LSG FB group, and you are free to download and print if you like.
Vendors! We have a plethora of vendors who carry a wide variety of scrapbooking items. So, no worries if you forget something or need a different shade of cardstock.
If you forget any necessary items, we are very close to a Walgreens and Walmart in Newport. There are also a few restaurants close by if you want to grab lunch out. We tried using Door Dash once, but the delivery fee was pretty high. Papa Johns will deliver pizza.
If you need a moment away to clear the cobwebs, there are several great places to get away and relax. The main lobby has several comfy chairs surrounding a large stone fireplace. There is a back porch with wonderful rocking chairs and a corn hole game. Finally, there is a nice little walking path across the road that takes you down to the stream that runs parallel to the property. (psst, it’s a great photo op spot)
