Making it Public for Massachusetts Municipalities 2026 Cohort Application Information Session (virtual)

The New England Foundation for the Arts (NEFA), in partnership with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council’s (MAPC) Arts and Culture Department (MAPC), is pleased to invite municipalities in Massachusetts to participate in the Making It Public (MIP) for Massachusetts Municipalities’ 2026 cohort. Deadline to apply is Monday, September 29, 2025 at 11:59pm.


This application information session is geared towards municipal staff interested in participating in the 2026 Cohort.

Sustainability Day at the State House (in-person)

Massachusetts State House, 24 Beacon Street, Boston

You are invited to join the inaugural Sustainability Day at the State House hosted by the House Committee on Climate Action & Sustainability!


The event will feature remarks from Committee Chair Tram Nguyen, Vice Chair Michelle Ciccolo, and a keynote address from Massachusetts Climate Chief Melissa Hoffer as well as a panel discussion with leaders on how municipalities can advance their climate goals, save money, and improve the health and wellbeing of their residents. It will also feature a Sustainability Showcase in The Great Hall that highlights practical solutions in waste reduction, composting, zero waste models, decarbonization pilots, climate technology, battery innovation, and more.


MAPC is a sponsoring organization of Sustainability Day at the State House.

Introducing the Climate Resilience Playbook: An Online Resource for Massachusetts Communities (virtual)

Join the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC), Pioneer Valley Planning Commission (PVPC), and Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) for a webinar to officially launch the Climate Resilience Playbook (the Playbook).


The Playbook is an online interactive tool that local planners can use to identify and prioritize resilience actions for their communities. During the webinar you will learn more about the collaborative engagement process that shaped the Playbook, its features, and opportunities to help shape this evolving tool.
