The Message this Week
Preaching Text: Revelation 7:9-17
Palm procession, ordinary time edition. Our reading from Revelation this week has a multitude from every nation and tribe and people. They are gathered around the throne with palm branches. We usually think about palm branches on Palm Sunday, the beginning of Holy Week. It’s a parade that goes wrong in so many ways. It’s hard to see the palms as signs of triumph and peace at the outset of a week that holds so much violence. On the other side of the cross, we can see the palm branches for what they are…signs of triumph, peace and eternal life.
Gracious God, help us to use the lens of the cross to look at the world and then use us to join your work to feed, comfort, and protect the people you send into our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
