SAPHE 2.0 Passes!

WMPHA has long been a supporter of the SAPHE 2.0 Bill, a measure to ensure that Massachusetts has a well funded, professional public health infrastructure that guarantees all residents equal public health protections. We see this as a vital guarantee of equity for rural communities and Gateway cities.

We are thrilled to report that after 7+years of advocacy, legislative hearing testimony, rallies, sign-on letters, and meetings with legislators, the bill passed as part of the Economic Development Bond Bill, and was signed by the Governor last week!

Reduced Oxygen Packaging

Reduced oxygen packaging (ROP) is a process that extends the shelf life of food by removing or displacing oxygen from a package. ROP can be used for a variety of foods, including meat, cheese, candy, and snacks.

All food inspectors are invited to join us for an informative training on the requirements and best practices of inspecting operations using ROP.
