During the Fall Board Meeting, the ASCA Board of Directors spent time evaluating our mission and core values to ensure the organization is living up to our purpose and meeting the needs of our members. After much discussion, dialog, and debate, the board voted to approve a new mission and to update our core values.
The board also spent significant time digging into ASCA’s financials. While the organization is in a strong financial position, the unknown impacts of COVID continue to linger and require the board to take steps to ensure the long-term success of ASCA. As such, the board voted on two financial items. The first is to update the bylaws to allow the board to raise dues no more than $10.00 per year without a vote by the ASCA membership. The second is to raise the current dues by approximately $30.00 per person, which if passed by the members will take effect July 1, 2022. The current dues rate has not been increased by more than $6.00 since 2015 and has not kept pace with the current cost of living.
Our next step is for ASCA members to vote on these changes. The following timeline has been approved by the board:
November 16: Announcement of Proposed Bylaw Changes
November 22: Ballot opens for voting
December 17: Ballot closes
We ask that you take a few minutes to review the proposed changes. Click here to read the redline-version of the bylaws. Below is a brief description of the changes.
