Rachel, our studio owner, fractured her elbow (and a few ribs) on March 27th. She had a successful surgery Thursday, April 9 (open reduction and internal fixation) to fix the bones with plates, screws, or pins. Initial bone healing takes 6 to 8 weeks. Physical therapy is typically needed for 3 to 6 months to restore range of motion. Full recovery and return to activity can take 3 to 6 months or longer. She plans to return to teaching, with her arm in a sling with needed modifications, as soon as she can do so safely, hoping in 10-12 weeks.
During the first 10-12 weeks, support from her community will make a meaningful difference for her and her family. Dana Terhune started a meal train for Rachel and her family. If you're able to help with a meal, it would be deeply appreciated and a wonderful way to show care and encouragement. Thank you to all who have signed up so far and the delicious food to nourish ~ very appreciated!

Cards, notes, emails and text messages of encouragement are also greatly appreciated and Rachel sends heartfelt thanks to the many who have sent them ~ so very appreciated.
Please not send more flowers. As beautiful as flowers are, Rachel, Jack & Sara have four wonderful pets, two cats and two dogs, and the flowers are not good for the animals or for Jack's allergies. The thoughtfulness, however, to all who sent them already, is very appreciated. They are truly beautuful!
