Stewardship Awards honor years of service

St. Monica alums return to share stories

During Catholic Schools Week, students in St. Monica's House heard from St. Monica's School graduates Joyce Bass, Maritza Hicks, Jacque Peebles, Adelaide Cobb Reddick, Hazel Sanders, and Vernice Holt Whyms. Alex Bass '96 covered the story for N.C. Catholics Magazine.

Athletics Hall of Fame

Shannon Boyle '03 and Sarah Rapp '11 were inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame during Catholic Schools Week. Shannon was a trailblazer as a student-athlete at Gibbons. She joined the boy's golf team because there was no girls team and ended up being a three-time letter winner and three-time scholar athlete during her high school career. Sarah was inducted for Cross Country and Track & Field, where she was a three-time state champion runner and led the Crusaders to four state championship titles during her Gibbons Cross Country career.

Record-Breaking Runners

The women’s 4x800 indoor relay team finished 1st at States, breaking an NCHSAA record with a time of 9:18.21 - the third fastest in the country this year.

Alumni Career Day

Friday, March 22, is the Gibbons Alumni Career Expo. Interact with students and share insight on college majors and how to launch a career. Register by March 11. Seeking alums with LinkedIn experience to host a student workshop. Contact Susan Leigh '87 if you can assist on March 19 or 20 from 9-11 a.m.

Hospitality and Outreach Team

Serve Gibbons and the alumni community as a Hospitality and Outreach team member. This group is now forming under the leadership of Emilie Schaefer Lafater '05 and supports various alumni events, such as Homecoming, Alumni Weekend, the Golden Crusaders Dinner, and more. Join the information Zoom on Thursday, April 11 at 6:30 pm to learn how you can get involved!  

Alumni Weekend

Alumni Weekend is April 27-28. Don't miss the Food Truck Rodeo & Lawn Games on Saturday afternoon. Alumni are invited to sing with the Gibbons Chorus. See student art on display. Enjoy campus tours and test your knowledge with our Catholic Jeopard game. The Class of 1984 is holding a 40-year reunion (details TBA), and the 70s Decade Gathering returns on Saturday night under Western Blvd. Pavilion. Register now.

Golden Crusaders Dinner

Alumni from Cardinal Gibbons, Nazareth Orphanage, and Cathedral Latin who graduated 50+ years ago are invited to this special gathering during Alumni Weekend. Join us on Saturday, April 27th, for a cocktail reception and dinner. This year we welcome the Class of 1974, celebrating their 50th! RSVP by April 12.
