IN THE NEWS...
Do you have any friends, neighbors, relatives that might be interested in learning about our Religious School or New Young Family Membership? If so, please share this news item with them!

Or Chadash announces Free Religious School for Grades K/1/2 and New Young Family Membership

Or Chadash, The Reform Synagogue of Hunterdon County has recently announced that it is offering free Religious School to all children in grades Kindergarten, First and Second Grade.  Or Chadash has also created a new membership category called "Young Family Members."

Families whose eldest child is in Second grade or below can participate in all the activities and programming at Or Chadash, as "Young Family Members" for a nominal annual fee of $180.

Or Chadash welcomes families interested in learning about Jewish life to our fun Sunday morning educational program.

Students in grades Kindergarten, First and Second gather on Sunday mornings from 10:15 AM to 12 noon during the academic school year. The morning begins with a community prayer session, Tefillah and an oneg, where students practice the blessings for challah (motzi) and juice (kiddish). Younger children then transition to Jewish Studies where they are introduced to Bible Stories, Jewish Values, Holidays using crafts, storytelling and hands-on exploration as learning vehicles. Older students in Grades 3 - 6 join us from 9 AM to 12 noon on Sunday mornings, with the first hour dedicated to introducing students to the Hebrew language.

Or Chadash also offers Temple Tots, a free program open to the community for children ages 2 to 5. Temple Tots meets monthly on Sundays at 11 AM.  Through crafts, song, storytelling and activities, children (accompanied by an adult) learn about the Jewish holidays.

Or Chadash has recently adopted the "Hebrew Through Movement" curriculum. "Hebrew Through Movement" is a language acquisition strategy in which students learn Hebrew by hearing and responding to Hebrew phrases. "Hebrew Through Movement" introduces Hebrew in a playful and meaningful way, creating a positive first link between children and Hebrew. In "Hebrew Through Movement" the teacher offers commands and the students react to the language. When learners hear "Lakoom", they stand up and when they hear "Lashevet", they sit down. This creates a very social experience, bringing everyone into the fun and engaging learning process. "Hebrew Through Movement" assumes that languages patterns are as important as vocabulary. Students internalize language patterns that they hear repeatedly without having to formally learn rules of grammar.

"This school is fun!  There is action in this class, we get to move.", said Jordan Wolf, a fourth grader from Union Township. "I love everything about Religious School, especially the time we are singing the prayers." Parents have shared that children are spontaneously using Hebrew words at the dinner tables and are requesting to have more "Hebrew Through Movement" classroom time!

In addition to educational programming for younger students, Or Chadash offers classes for grades 7, a post Bar/Bat Mitzvah program for grades 8 - 10, and adult education.

Or Chadash, The Reform Temple of Hunterdon County, welcomes people from all faiths, Jewish and non-Jewish, and encourages everyone to participate in Jewish life. For more information about Or Chadash Religious School, please contact:

SCRIP CORNER

Announcing a new RAFFLE!  Enter to win by placing orders for ScripNow in the each of the months of July, August, and September.  If you have Presto Pay, give ScripNow a try!  It's instant!  Going to the movies?  Going to Home Depot?  Going to Starbucks?  For these retailers and so many more, simply log into your scrip account and select "ScripNow ecard" when you order.  Within minutes of placing your order, you'll see the scrip listed in your "wallet." Easy!

If you don't have Presto Pay, you can still try this!  You'd place an order for the "ScripNow ecard" and you can pay by check or credit card when checking out.  The difference is that it will be available to you when I place the group order.

Scrip is all kinds of FUN for summer!  AMC movies, Regal Cinemas, Dunkin Donuts, Wawa, Disney, Delta Airlines, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Barnes&Noble, Coldstone Creamery, Charming Charlie, The Cheesecake Factory, Bath&Body Works, Buffalo Wild Wings, Dairy Queen, Dave&Busters, Maggiano's, TJ Maxx, The NorthFace, and the list goes on!

Check out the scrip site before you shop - any orders you place make such a difference and all add up!

Simply put, Or Chadash could use all the help you can give with this monthly fundraiser. There is a pile of free money out there that we can bring in to Or Chadash if we take a couple steps and use scrip to buy what we would anyway.

We have 48 members signed up in our Scrip Program.  If you are a member, make the commitment to ordering every month!

If you are not yet a member, it's never too late to get in on this fundraising gem!  Scrip is another name for gift cards, and when you sign up to buy them on the ShopWithScrip website, every purchase you make earns Or Chadash much-needed (free) funds.  There are hundreds of retailers, offering varying percentages back to Or Chadash.  And Or Chadash shares the benefits with you as credit on your dues.  This is truly a win-win opportunity!
