UPCOMING AT OR CHADASH

Quick Links:

Dear Members of Or Chadash:

These past few weeks have been filled with lots of excitement for me: at Or Chadash, in our community and in the Caribbean.

Or Chadash is gearing up for Hanukkah.  We are very fortunate that the Gendelman family is bringing lots of latkes next Shabbat -- but we still want you to make those remarkably unique latkes from your families' traditions!  Please RSVP below to let us know what you're bringing.

To prepare you for Hanukkah, this Shabbat I am presenting: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Hanukkah But Were Afraid to Ask. Please join me for t his informative Q and A.  You will learn the REAL story of Hanukkah, the truth behind the miracle and whether latkes or hamantaschen are the definitive Jewish treat.  And ...you will get the definitive answer to the great question: How do you spell this favorite Jewish holiday!?!?

In our community, I am proud to share that I am now a Trustee on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Somerset, Hunterdon and Warren Counties.  My first meeting was last Tuesday, and I look forward to deepening our connections to the SHaW Federation and letting you know what is happening in our region.  This week is Super Week (see below). Please come out and support the Federation!

And finally, I have just returned from eight days in Cuba. Please join me this Sunday for Kup O' Joe (Adult Education) to learn about the long Jewish history of Cuba and the current state of the Jewish community in this special country.  Cigars, rum and coffee are all BYOB.

Shalom,

Rabbi Joseph M. Forman

A message from Robin Wishnie, Executive Director of the Jewish Federation of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties...

Hello Everyone,

We have slammed into the 2018 hurricane season. When disaster first strikes, immediate aid is needed to help communities get back on their feet. Afterwards, rebuilding and strengthening resilience can take years.

But, just as with Hurricanes Katrina and Harvey, Jewish Federations are there-helping make sure that the urgent needs of the most severely impacted are met.

We have opened a fund for victims of Hurricane Michael, as we have done for previous hurricanes. Please help these hurricane victims today.
