MSU Data Center Tour and Photo Opportunity

ICER users and groups can tour the MSU Data Center where the high-performance computing hardware is housed and have their photo taken with the servers. Please complete the interest form if you would like to participate.

HPCC Scheduled Downtime

The HPCC will be unavailable on Thursday, December 18, for our regularly scheduled maintenance. No jobs will run during this time. Jobs that will not be completed before December 18 will not begin until after the maintenance window.

Home Directory Migration to VAST Complete

The year-long process to migrate all home directories to the new VAST storage system is complete. Old home directories on the old home filesystem will be deleted on January 1, 2026. This new filesystem is much better suited for home directory use; you may have noticed your quota details update quickly. Users can also recover old versions of files with the snapshot system.

Verifying ICER Projects and Users

We have begun contacting all PIs on the HPCC to validate their users and projects, and to connect any grants, publications, and research outputs from work supported by the HPCC. Once notified, each PI will have a 1-month deadline to review and update their information before access to ICER systems is suspended for their members. We will send every PI an email over the next few months; if you have any questions, please contact ICER staff via email or help ticket. As part of the process, the new contact form will allow you to better understand your ICER allocations and members in your projects, along with a simple process to modify those. The project tracking system will help us better understand the impact ICER has on the MSU research community and sustain investment.
