"Through the Desert God Leads us to Freedom"

Pope Francis’ message for Lent is focused on God's call to leave behind the bonds of slavery, with the title, "Through the Desert God Leads us to Freedom", which is from the Book of Exodus (20:2).

God enables people to embark on a new journey and experience "a Passover from death to life," the pope wrote. MORE>>>

Letter Writing, February 24 and 25, after all the Masses

This month’s letter writing focus is from Bread for the World, one of our St. Mary Magdalene Global Solidarity Partners. Last year we wrote to Congress about the reauthorization of the Farm Bill that contains SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – formerly Food Stamps), Food Commodities (for Food Banks and pantries, including ours at SMM), and emergency food assistance abroad.

Unfortunately, Congress did not take up the Farm Bill last year. So, our February letters will be directed to our members of Congress once again, seeking support for these important programs that provide greater food security at home and abroad.

Letters will be available to read and consider signing after all the Masses next weekend. Please plan to take a few minutes for this important way to put our faith into action. “When I was hungry, you gave me to eat.” Matthew 25

Our Parish Pantries: February - Soup

Soup is requested by our Social Ministry Center during the month of

February. Donations can be placed in the containers at all our churches, dropped off at the Ministry Center, 723 Rebecca Avenue in Wilkinsburg, or left on the porch of the Parish Office.

Thank you to all who are making this a part of your monthly support

for our parish pantries. The need is great, and every donated item is a help!
