Teen Mental Health

Join us for a week dedicated to addressing the pressing mental health challenges facing teenagers in Montgomery County, Maryland, as they navigate the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. At Montgomery County Public Libraries, we understand the importance of supporting our youth through serious challenges, which is why we are working to providing teens and their support networks with important information regarding Teen Mental Health Resources in our county.

From April 6th - April 13th, we invite teenagers, parents, educators, and community members to come together for a series of informative and empowering events designed to shed light on mental health issues and provide resources for support. Our aim is to create a safe and welcoming space where teens can openly discuss their struggles and find solidarity in knowing they are not alone.

Fourth graders in Gaithersburg are encouraged to write essays telling us what they would do if they were mayor. The theme, to be explored in 275 words or less, is “Inspiring Leadership in your City/Community.”  Students are asked to write about the ways elected officials inspire leadership in their communities and to share a project they would take on that would make others want to help make the City better. Finalists will be invited to a panel interview, with the winner being selected as Gaithersburg’s next Junior Mayor. The submission deadline is April 5.
