Ride On Food Drive - May 21 to 27, 2023 - Give and Ride FREE

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s Ride On Transit Services is conducting a food drive from May 21-27, 2023 in partnership with Manna Food Center, County Public Libraries and Regional Services Centers. All food donations will go to Manna Foods, to help members of our community who are in need. Donations will be accepted at the Upcounty Regional Service Center: 12900 Middlebrook Road, Germantown, MD 20874. Learn more here.

Flags for Our Heroes Opening Ceremony

Each Memorial Day weekend since 2014, Gaithersburg's Bohrer Park is transformed into a Field of Honor where 750 8-foot-high American flags are flown to celebrate our heroes. Each flag honors a person who has made a difference in someone's life. Join the Opening Ceremony on Saturday, May 27, at 11:00 am, at Bohrer Park (506 S Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20877). Train Exursion Celebrating 150 years of the B&O Railroad's Met Branch

On Monday, May 29, a special train excursion will take riders past historic stations and railroad communities to Brunswick, MD and return. Ticketed passengers may board at Silver Spring, Kensington, Garrett Park, Rockville, Gaithersburg, or Germantown. Tickets are available for purchase on the web site through Eventbrite and at locations in Rockville and Germantown. This one-day event is expected to sell out, so advance purchase is recommended. ‘Love is Blooming:’ Animal Services and Adoption Center and FMCA to Hold Fee-Waived Adoption Event for All Dogs May 18-28

Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) will hold a fee-waived adoption event for all dogs starting Thursday, May 18, and running through Sunday, May 28. The “Love is Blooming” adoption event is sponsored by Friends of Montgomery County Animals (FMCA). The Animal Services and Adoption Center is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Rd. in Derwood. The shelter is currently filled with dogs looking for good homes. Read More.

Contemporary Conversations @ MCPL

Join MCPL for a conversation in celebration of Pride Month about the importance of poetry, storytelling and the spoken word with writers Emanuel Xavier and Regie Cabico. The program will take place at the Wheaton Library (Social Hall, second floor) and it will also be offered via live streaming. Throughout the month, visitors and local residents will be able to access deals, discounts and special events at a selection of the County’s hotels, restaurants, attractions, retail businesses and craft beverage producers.
