The Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s Ride On Transit Services is conducting a food drive from May 21-27, 2023 in partnership with Manna Food Center, County Public Libraries and Regional Services Centers. All food donations will go to Manna Foods, to help members of our community who are in need. Flags for Our Heroes Opening Ceremony
Each Memorial Day weekend since 2014, Gaithersburg's Bohrer Park is transformed into a Field of Honor where 750 8-foot-high American flags are flown to celebrate our heroes. Each flag honors a person who has made a difference in someone's life. Join the Opening Ceremony on Saturday, May 27, at 11:00 am, at Bohrer Park (506 S Frederick Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20877). Train Exursion Celebrating 150 years of the B&O Railroad's Met Branch
On Monday, May 29, a special train excursion will take riders past historic stations and railroad communities to Brunswick, MD and return. Ticketed passengers may board at Silver Spring, Kensington, Garrett Park, Rockville, Gaithersburg, or Germantown. Tickets are available for purchase on the web site through Eventbrite and at locations in Rockville and Germantown. This one-day event is expected to sell out, so advance purchase is recommended. ‘Love is Blooming:’ Animal Services and Adoption Center and FMCA to Hold Fee-Waived Adoption Event for All Dogs May 18-28
Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) will hold a fee-waived adoption event for all dogs starting Thursday, May 18, and running through Sunday, May 28. The “Love is Blooming” adoption event is sponsored by Friends of Montgomery County Animals (FMCA). The Animal Services and Adoption Center is located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Rd. in Derwood.
