Standing Together is not just our organization, it is the organization for Am Yisrael!
Let me open the door to the back-end of Standing Together. Standing Together operates on a shoestring budget to make the donations go as far as possible. I can tell you that only a minimum from each donation goes towards administrative costs.
We do not have an office, phones or other office equipment that is paid for by the non-profit organization. I don't take a salary nor do I get reimbursed for my expenses. We are grateful for all our volunteers who are a tremendous help to Standing Together. Our NY office is completely run by volunteers, this includes writing receipts for checks as well as making deposits and taking care of banking issues. When we incorporated Standing Together in the USA, the firm that assisted us heard about our activities and did the work pro bono, which was a very big help for us. We have two accountants, one for our US non-profit who volunteers his time and the other for the Israeli non-profit who charges a minimal hourly rate. Additionally, we have a web/marketing company that works the minimum amount of time both giving us discounts and volunteering some of their hours.
The costs for running Standing Together in the field includes maintaining the Standing Together Hospitality truck and filling it with tasty snacks for the soldiers as well as warm jackets and other necessities as needed. We are fortunate that many of our suppliers are very generous and give us additional goods as their donation to the chayalim.
We are looking for people to be actively involved in Standing Together. It is an organization that relies solely on the help of others. For example, we bought two freezers for the storage area that we have and the seller gave Standing Together a third freezer as a donation. We receive extra donuts beyond what we purchase from our supplier Mr. Donuts. Nothing goes to waste. We have underwear and other clothing supplies, as well as small coffee / tea making kits left over from the Second Lebanon War. We have been giving these items out now during the Iron Swords War. The electricity for the storage area is donated by the municipality and the storage room itself is rented to Standing Together at a discounted rate. People who donate feel part of the organization, we are all working together for the same cause.
We would like to encourage our donors to volunteer as well and do what they can in their profession for Standing Together. Can you help with social media? Can you help us double the amount of people to whom we send our newsletter and share it with others? Donors have also recently started looking into matching funds offered by their company. This has been a tremendous help. We greatly appreciate your donations and interest in Standing Together. Please let us know how you would like to get more involved.
