Community Update #19
Dear Community Member,
I am pleased to share that booster shots are now available for all three COVID-19 vaccines—Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson (J&J)—and all three are being offered at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.
Please refer to the VT Department of Health (VDH) website for detailed information, including eligibility criteria, how to register for the booster shot, and where to get the vaccine booster shot. Click here to access the VDH website, and here to access the BMH website with a Q&A section.
VDH has established eligibility criteria for the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines (see below). All individuals who received the J&J vaccine are eligible now as long as you received your vaccine at least two months ago.
You are eligible for Pfizer or Moderna booster if you are:
- 65 or older
- 18 or older with certain medical conditions
-
18 or older who work in a high-risk setting
- 18 or older and are Black, Indigenous, or a person of color (BIPOC) or are age 18 or older and live with someone who is BIPOC.
BMH offers many opportunities for you to receive your booster vaccine:
When: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursday, Saturdays
Time: 9:00am - 12:30pm
Location: Unit next to Brattleboro Family Medicine, 53 Fairview Street, Brattleboro
When: Fridays and Saturdays
Time: 9:00am - 6:00pm
Location: Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, Richards Building Entrance
You must schedule an appointment for your booster vaccine. You can do this by clicking here or you can call 855-722-7878, Monday-Friday 8:15 am-4:30 pm and Saturday and Sunday 10:00 am-3:00 pm.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has also announced that regardless of which vaccine you originally received, your booster can be the vaccine type of your choice (Pfizer, Moderna, or J&J). Researchers have found that those who received any booster saw an increase in immune protection. In addition, people who received a booster different from the vaccine used during their initial series saw a similar—if not better—boost.
By receiving your initial COVID vaccine, and now a booster shot, you are taking the most effective step possible to keep yourself, your loved ones, and the community at large safe and healthy during this unprecedented pandemic. I hope you will take advantage of the many opportunities to receive these life saving vaccines.
Stay safe and be well,
Steve
