Dear FPC friends,
I am grateful for your generosity in wanting to help and be part of the various efforts happening in our church and the city. However, we have reached a point at which we are just "waiting for orders." We were able to provide a reunification center for Camp La Junta last night. That was a humbling experience. We have not received any additional requests to open the Family Life Center. If that happens, we will ensure that you are informed about how you can help.
The best thing you can do right now is to check with the Salvation Army, as they are currently in need of volunteers. Cross Kingdom Church is serving as a donation depot for non-perishables. That's another way you can help. You can also make monetary donations to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, set up by The Community Foundation, or make a gift to our church, and we will ensure it is directed to where it is most needed.
As the days begin to settle down, more needs will arise, especially for people trying to rebuild their lives after losing everything. We will be actively involved in these efforts, whether it's cleaning up debris or providing furniture and meals to those affected. For now, let's wait and see what's most needed.
If you know of someone who may need a place to stay, please let us know so that we can fulfill that need.
WHAT TO EXPECT TOMORROW
We will gather for worship at 10:15 a.m. Attached is the new and updated bulletin. Our worship will include various Scripture readings and hymns that may provide comfort, hope, and encouragement. There will be a brief homily, and we will partake of the Lord's Supper together.
Ryan Hall will be open before the service for coffee and cookies in case people need a space to see friends and hug each other. There will be no formal Sunday School.
ABOUT OUR MEMBERS
As many of you may know, our beloved Jane Ragsdale passed away yesterday due to the flood. We are heartbroken. Words cannot express this loss in our church and community. She led with love and creativity, always exemplifying the love of Christ in word and deed. We will dearly miss her. There are no details about a memorial service at this time.
We have confirmation now that Rita Odom and her family are okay and alive. This is truly a miracle for which we are so grateful. The Junkin, Crozier, Richardson, and Tuschak families are also well and safe.
INDEPENDENCE DAY CONCERT
We will have the original Independence Day Pipe Organ Concert next Friday, July 11, at 3:00 p.m. This will be a concert where the community can come together—all donations, whether in food or monetary form, will go towards the flood relief efforts in our area.
PASTORAL CARE
We are here to support you through these tragic events. Pastor Susan Shaw-Meadow, Susan Montoya, Shannon Tuschak, and I are available to meet with you over the next few days. Please make an appointment so that we can coordinate these efforts as well. If you need help obtaining food, supplies, or anything else, please let us know.
