Update: 2020 CCUA National Conference for Canada's Credit Unions to be Cancelled
Every year, the Canadian credit union extended family looks forward to connecting with each other at CCUA’s National Conference. It’s an incredible moment for our industry to share, learn and reach out to each other. That is why we are sorry to tell you that this year, due to the growing global COVID-19 outbreak, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person component of our conference. Conference fees are fully refundable, and we will share details on our cancellation process in a separate communication.
We know how much you value the opportunity to connect face-to-face, and we want you to know we looked at every possible way to carry on, but, in the end, the safety of our members, employees, partners and sponsors – and the communities they return to following Conference – must be our priority.
Instead, CCUA will be offering some of the same great content you’ve come to expect from our Conference, but across a series of online events over the next few weeks and months. We are excited about how we can carry on the spirit of being together online and will get back to you soon with our plans and proposed sessions.
To kick this new approach off, we will also be hosting a virtual session followed by an online version of our annual general meeting. Look out for an invite soon.
We also know how much time and effort so many of you put into the credit union awards process. From submissions to judging, this is a credit union tradition that connects us all. Although there will be no gala awards ceremony this year, we are working on how to recognize the award winners in visible and important virtual ways. We want our winners to feel their hard work and commitment are being actively recognized, even in these tough times. Stay tuned for more on that.
Canada’s credit unions are a diverse and resilient group of talented people who lead with their hearts. We will weather these times together and stay connected in other ways. None of us is as strong as all of us.
