Big congratulations to ASC Equal Justice Works Fellow Tsion Gurmu for making the coveted Forbes 30 Under 30 Class Of 2018, in Law & Policy. We are so proud of Tsion for her work in providing pro bono legal services for LGBT African and Caribbean immigrants fleeing persecution and anti-homosexuality legislation in their home countries. African Services Committee's Advocacy Director, Amanda Lugg, was among the 11 anti-Tax Reform Bill protesters arrested on Capitol Hill recently for sitting-in on GOP representatives as they debate a reprehensible bill.

ASC Advocates Rally Against Slavery in Libya 

ASC Policy Advocate, Bakary Tandia, and other client advocates joined the  United Africans Against Slavery in Libya demonstration on Nov. 28 in front of the Libyan mission in New York City, to protest the enslavement of African migrants in Libya.

In Reversal, Immigration Agency Will Consider Delayed DACA Requests

One of ASC's  Immigrant Community Law Center (ICLC) clients was days away from losing her job - and possibly much more. She courageously contributed to the original NYT reporting that put pressure on USCIS to do the right thing and accept timely-postmarked applications received after the due date.
