Current Conditions:

  • Ice Accumulations: Over 0.25 inches of ice has already accumulated across much of the area, with up to 0.1 inches of additional ice possible this morning before the transition to all snow is complete.
  • Snow Transition: The transition from sleet and freezing rain to all snow is underway and will continue from northwest to southeast throughout the morning.
  • Winds: Strong north winds up to 50 mph are creating blizzard conditions with significant blowing and drifting snow, leading to near-zero visibility.

Not much has changed since the last update from the National Weather Service. The blizzard continues with hazardous winter weather expected throughout the day. Moderate to heavy precipitation is ongoing, and a transition from freezing rain and sleet to snow is in progress. Confidence remains high in significant snow accumulations, strong winds, and dangerous wind chills. Travel is hazardous, and power outages remain a concern.

Heavy snow is expected to continue through the afternoon, tapering off by evening. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 18 inches are still expected, with the highest amounts north of Interstate 70. Combined with the ice and high winds, road closures are likely, and additional power outages are possible.

Temperatures will drop throughout the day, with wind chills around -10°F to -20°F tonight and into Monday morning. Residents are advised to avoid prolonged outdoor exposure.
