Where We Are in the Budget Process
This is the week that House finance sub-committees will close out and funding reports will go to the full Finance Committee. In sub-committee, we have been going line by line, examining the governor's budget proposals. Once we have examined the budget in detail and made recommendations, each subcommittee will send their budget reports to the full House Finance Committee. For a great example of this process, check out the latest House Health and Social Services finance sub-committee here on Gavel to Gavel: Part I and Part II .

I will keep you updated on the process as we move forward.

Recent Capitol Visitors
Last week, I had the great pleasure of sponsoring a lunch and learn with Facing Foster Care in Alaska (FFCA), a nonprofit organization that works to improve the foster care system in Alaska. Check out their website here . I had a great time meeting with Amanda, Sarah, Janine, and Barb afterwards to discuss how the State can better fund and support the foster care system.

I also had a lovely time meeting with Clare, Teresa, Geser, and Zobeida with the UA Coalition of Student Leaders. We had a good chat about the University of Alaska's budget. I am a strong believe in the value of the University's impact on our economy and keeping Alaska's best and brightest in our state!

If you're a District 16 resident and want to talk but can’t make it to Juneau, let’s schedule a call at your convenience. If you're coming to Juneau, be sure to schedule a visit. Either way, I look forward to hearing from you!
Meet the Team: Introducing Megan Holland
Meet Megan Holland. She was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and received her BA in International Studies with a emphasis in Political Science from the University of Alaska Anchorage.

This her third year working in the capitol, but her first year working in my office. We are ecstatic to have her on the team! Megan is my Resources committee aide and is working on a number of bills with me.

Megan loves singing, has most of "Hamilton" memorized, and is fluent in Spanish.
