Ensuring that working from home is as regulated as it is in the office. Employees, especially those in the younger age bracket, living in rented accommodation do not have sufficient internal space or access to outdoor space.

There are stories of people working from laptops on ironing boards. Correct seating, adequate work surface, keyboard technique, posture, position of screen, use of support devices, software setting, non-reflective screens, the environment e.g. lighting and heating levels, importance of regular breaks, setting a routine. When working from home it can be easy to blur the lines between work and home life.

There is much talk of air corridors/traffic light system and Europe being open for tourism again, dependent on the vaccination programme and the safety of the issuing country.  Would you feel happy to go abroad? Maybe another staycation this year, but the costs are prohibitive?   There is much talk of queues at airports, the cost of testing at airports – is air travel becoming a privilege of the wealthy, as it used to be?

Speakers:

  • John Coles, Kew Bridge Travel
  • Maggi Smit, America & Canada as you like it
  • Alison Edwards, Richmond Hill Hotel - domestic market
  • Deborah Barnes, Clayton Hotel - executive travel market

Over 18? You may be able to get a vaccine (at Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre only)

From 12th May, if you're over the age of 18 you may be able to receive a vaccine by queuing at Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre only at the end of the day (after 5.30pm Mon-Thurs) pending vaccine availability.

You will need to bring photo ID and your NHS number if you have one. Queues are likely, so please remember to social distance and observe Hands, Face, Space.

You will only ever be turned away from a queue due to a lack of vaccine supply - this may vary from day to day as we are operating this programme using surplus vaccines.

Queueing will not guarantee a vaccine, but teams on the doors will be able to advise at 5.30pm if there is availability that day. If there is availability, please join the queue between 5.30 and 6.30pm. Last admittance will be at 7.20pm each day.

If you're travelling to the Centre then please plan your journey to reduce contact as much as possible.

Both Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre and The Compass Centre at Heathrow are also drop-in vaccination clinics open for the eligible age categories (currently 38+). The Compass Centre is open for drop-ins Mon-Thurs 9am-7pm and Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre is Mon-Thurs 9am-7pm.

Drop-ins are not available at Brentford Friday to Sunday.

Aged 38 or older? If you're eligible, find out how to get your vaccine

If you are aged 38 or over, are clinically vulnerable, a frontline worker or a carer, you can now book your COVID-19 vaccination through the NHS website even if you haven’t yet received a letter. Appointments are available at sites across the Borough and also Ealing, Wembley and Hammersmith.

You can book an appointment now if:

  • you are aged 38 or over
  • you are at high risk from coronavirus (clinically extremely vulnerable)
  • you are an eligible frontline health or social care worker

A request for help from TfL:

As we continue to work with London businesses to support a safe and sustainable restart, we would be grateful if you could kindly spare around five minutes to complete this short survey which closes at 5:00pm on 18th May.

The findings from this research will inform the ways we can best support the return of office-based employees to restart and recover from the coronavirus crisis by providing tailored travel advice.
