Dear MYSO Family,

In response to guidelines issued by Governor Evers and the State of Wisconsin’s Department of Health Services regarding COVID-19 (also known as coronavirus), and with the health and safety of our young musicians and families in mind, the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) is suspending all scheduled rehearsals and activities at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center (MYAC) and offsite locations for a two-week period from March 16 - 27, except for the following :

  1. Metropolitan and Senior Symphony rehearsals will be held as scheduled on Monday, March 16. Musicians should prepare as usual and plan on attending rehearsal.
  2. All activities related to the Davidson Chamber Ensembles and Honors Chamber Music programs will proceed as scheduled the week of March 16, along with the Davidson Chamber Ensembles recitals on March 29 at MYAC.
  3. MYSO’s official spring break has been previously announced as taking place March 23 - 27.

We hope that this suspension will help efforts to limit the community spread of COVID-19, as our musicians and families come together from more than 250 schools throughout our region.

As always, every family must make its own personal decision about whether to attend rehearsal, based on their own situation. If you elect not to attend scheduled rehearsals, please follow our standard procedures by notifying the office. You may call the attendance line at 414.267.2951 or email .

We are continuing to closely monitor the situation and will keep families informed regarding programming activities. We know that you may have questions and concerns about what this means for the remainder of the season and auditions for next year’s orchestras. We will continue to communicate with you regularly and reach out with more details as they become available.  Please watch your email, social media, and our website at  for updates as they occur.

The skills that MYSO musicians exhibit can also help us through challenging situations like this and we encourage the entire MYSO family to demonstrate empathy, respect, creativity, and collaboration as we work together through this.

If you have any questions, please contact me via email at or by phone at 414.267.2990.
