Dear MYSO Family,
In conjunction with Governor Evers’ mandate
for the statewide closure of all K-12 schools, public and private, as part of the state’s efforts to respond to and contain the spread of COVID-19 in Wisconsin
, and with the health and safety of our young musicians and families in mind,
the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) is suspending all scheduled rehearsals, lessons, performances, auditions, and other activities at the Milwaukee Youth Arts Center (MYAC) and offsite locations, effective immediately.
Based on this mandate,
our anticipated reopening date is April 6. However, the reopening date is subject to change pending further information, and in particular any subsequent local, state, and/or federal mandates. We are aware that other school districts in our region have elected to remain closed for a longer period. At this time, we are following the Governor’s mandate as our guideline.
We will be working diligently to determine a rescheduled timeline for auditions for next year’s ensembles, and other affected activities, as quickly as possible. Your patience and understanding of this rapidly evolving situation is sincerely appreciated.
We hope that this suspension will help efforts to limit the community spread of COVID-19, as our musicians and families come together from more than 250 schools throughout our region.
We continue to closely monitor the situation and will keep families informed regarding the resumption of programming activities. We know that you may have questions and concerns about what this means for the remainder of the season. We will communicate with you regularly and reach out with more details as they become available.
