Dear Ramah Families,
We hope this communication finds you and your family safe and healthy.
This email is the first in a series of updates addressing how we will safely and successfully open Camp Ramah in the Poconos this summer.
We continue to live in a time of great uncertainty - and so much will continue to change as we approach the summer months - however, we want to reaffirm our commitment to transparent communication by sharing some evolving details of our plan.
What do you need to know now?
- We are working with a team of medical experts, both in our own camp community, and in partnership with national organizations such as the National Ramah Commission, the American Camp Association, and others. These committees are crafting a blueprint of guidelines that we will use to operate safely this summer.
- Even with continuing advancements towards a vaccine, we anticipate the need to form a ‘community bubble’ in order to operate in the safest possible environment. As we continue to develop our plans, we will communicate openly about the changes to our camp programming, scheduling, or operations.
- Currently, we plan to update you with specifics for summer 2021 by the turn of the calendar year, so that we all can move confidently towards a safe and inspiring camp experience for our campers and staff.
What can you do in the meantime?
-
Plan for camp! Tell the kids that we are working hard to ensure that camp is there for them this summer. (And start labeling their socks!)
-
Please fill out Scholarship Applications/One Happy Camper. We are anticipating an increased demand for scholarships and will be awarding financial aid on a rolling basis, so please submit your application as early as possible.
-
Consider supporting our L’Chaim Campaign. As there will be many COVID-19 related expenses that we will need to incur in order to operate safely this summer, we thank you for continuing to support our mission and making summer 2021 possible.
-
Move forward with confidence. We can’t wait to see our campers at camp this summer - and we thank you for being our partners in that journey.
Please be in touch with us if you have further questions or concerns. We are always here to talk with you.
Sincerely Yours,
Rabbi Joel and the Year-Round Team
