Dear Student Affairs Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I meant to share this update with you last week—thank you for your patience!

We’re excited to provide the latest version of the Student Affairs Functional Structure. After a thorough review of your feedback, both Swim and the Student Affairs Executive Team carefully considered each comment and suggestion. With the student experience and journey as our guiding focus, we’ve made thoughtful adjustments to better reflect our collective goals and responsibilities.

Please note that the attached document is a working draft of the Student Affairs Functional Structure, reflecting the iterative nature of this process. As we continue to gather feedback, listen to the needs of our students, and further develop the structures that support each function, additional refinements may be made. We are also ensuring alignment with our Chancellor’s decision-making process, always asking: Does this best serve our students? Does this make us more effective? Does this create greater alignment and role clarity? Does this solve the problem—or move us toward a better solution?

Stay up to date on the Student Affairs Realignment through our dedicated page, where you'll find all related communications and a growing list of frequently asked questions as they arise.

Thank you for your continued engagement in this process and your commitment to keeping our work student-centered and strategically aligned.

Sincerely,

Dr. Shasta Buchanan

Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs
