We are thrilled with our victory Tuesday night at the Board of Supervisor's meeting where the group San Franciscans for Local Control, Not Telecom (SFLC) were able to convince Supervisors Peskin, Mar and Safai to call for a hearing to take a second look at Ordinance 190-19. This ordinance was voted on in July and it changes the Public Works code for the worse and allows up to four (4) cell phone towers on one utility pole as close as six feet from your window.
Over 50 people showed up to protest, over 210 signatures of individuals were gathered, and 23 neighborhoods signed onto a petition asking the Supervisors to RESCIND, RESEARCH, and REPLACE the current ordinance.
They were a FORCE (so much so that a Supervisor asked us not to speak since we'd get a chance during the next scheduled hearing). The speakers were eloquent and varied. They would not have gotten that result without the concerted effort of so many San Franciscans. THANK YOU!
What's next?
2. We will let you know the date of the hearing to revise language in the Ordinance to better protect the health of residents and SF's beauty.
3. Follow SFLC on Facebook to keep apprised of what's happening.
