Update November 16, 2023

Church Conference this Saturday, November 18th at 11am. Our church will hold its annual church conference with our district Superintendent, the Rev. Nizzi Digan. The church conference is a time to review and evaluate the mission and ministries of the church. We receive important reports, adapt goals and objectives for the year to come. We also hear from our district superintendent, who is the link between the local church and the regional and global United Methodist Church. All are invited to attend.

Hanging of the Greens We could use some fresh decor! If you have  any decorations and garlands in good shape that you no longer use and would be willing to donate to supplement what we have on hand please bring them to church Sunday or during this week. We will begin decorating  after the 9:30 service on November 26th. We will start in Fellowship Hall and after the 11:00am service, will move on to the Sanctuary

Men’s Breakfast: This Tuesday! (Note – There has been a change of day and time for this event.) Men of John Wesley, please join us for an hour of food, fellowship, and discussion on this Tuesday, November 21st, at 7:30 am in the Fitzgerald Room. Ben Van Mooy will share his unique experiences of living in Antarctica for months at a time as part of his work as a scientist at WHOI.  If you have questions about the event or would like to help, contact Matt O’Connor at oconnorscapecod@gmail.com.

A huge thank you to all of the many volunteers who made the 2023 Christmas Fair such a success. In addition to the financial success of the fair there were also the softer successes of working together. In the words of Kate Finemore:

"Simply the best! So much Christian welcoming and supportive love demonstrated! Thanks to all! "

The fair raised about $28,000 for the ministries and mission of the church and still more is coming in.

Church-Wide Advent Retreat Saturday, December 2, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., including lunch. We are so excited to be having an ADVENT RETREAT this year! In the busy-ness of the season, we invite you to make time to embrace the waiting and settling in as we breathe in the hope, joy, peace and love that the season of Advent offers. In the quiet and silence of this retreat, we invite you to sit, linger, ponder, behold, wander, wonder... wait with nativity scenes and Christmas stories from around the world.

Reflections and spiritual exercises will prepare you for the holy-days of Advent as we invite you to find your Christmas way in a manger.

We need volunteers to help decorate spaces for the retreat theme, and help with hospitality during the retreat. Contact Jenn Linton (jennifer.v.linton@gmail.com) with questions or to volunteer. The retreat is free and is appropriate for adults and older teens.

Advent Study Let’s celebrate advent with a book study on Monday nights at 6 pm starting November 27th in the library. We will be using Matt Rawle’ “Experiencing Christmas” as our guide to this study. There is a sign-up sheet in the fellowship hall. Merry Christmas! Karen Camp

There is a beautiful new Pictorial Membership Directory thanks to Lynne O'Brien! An electronic version is available as well as a hard copy. To receive an electronic version, please email the office jwumcfalmouth@comcast.net. To get a hard copy please stop by the office.
