Update: SR-189 Emergency Repair Project

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SAN BERNARDINO, CAThe California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is continuing a $2.25 million emergency project on State Route 189 near Lake Arrowhead.

Crews continue to rebuild the slope layer by layer, and then will pave and restripe the roadway. They have made tremendous progress on many operations and will likely have the route reopened sooner than anticipated.

Currently, SR-189 remains closed from Lodge Rd, to slightly west of SR-173. Motorists still have access to Lake Arrowhead Village but will not be allowed directly through the work zone. You must go around to get to the Village using SR-18 to SR-173. Crews will be working from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and possible weekends to assist in reopening the route as quickly as possible.

A reopening estimate will be early May 2023. This schedule may change due to weather constraints.
