Terminal Operating System Upgrade

Good afternoon,

We are less than two weeks from the Georgia Ports Authority’s planned technology upgrade at Garden City Terminal. Today, we would like to remind you of a few details that will help your organization plan for this transition. Again, the changeover from the current terminal operation system to the newest Navis N4 system will take place on April 1.

We also want to share new and essential information to assist the trucking community with expedited gate entry beginning April 2. 
 
Terminal Operations: All terminal operations at Garden City Terminal and Ocean Terminal will stop at 1800 on April 1. Vessel, yard, and rail operations are scheduled to restart at 0200 on Saturday, April 2, and will be ramped up in a controlled manner over several hours. The Garden City Terminal gate is scheduled to open as usual at 0600 on April 2. The Ocean Terminal gate will resume operations as usual at 0700 on Monday, April 4.

NEW Gate Entry: When the gates close on Friday evening, all existing pins will be discarded. Truckers will be required to create new pins in WebAccess, GPA’s customer access portal, after it is up and running at 0200 Saturday morning. Truckers will create PINS in the new system using the same process they currently follow. 
 
Extended Gate Hours: GPA will be operational from 0800 to 1800 on Sunday, April 3. During the week of April 4 through April 8, gate hours will be extended through 2300 to provide truckers additional opportunities to access the terminal.

We understand that with any technology migration there is potential for disruption and a learning curve for users as they become familiar with the new system. Please know that GPA takes these concerns seriously and we are making substantial investments to augment staffing at our port gates. We are also supplementing our IT staffing to efficiently troubleshoot any issues that may occur due to the transition.
